Ultimate Concave Push buttoms are the best IMO.

In japan.

theyre the opposite of the US...we use fat sticks they use skinny ones, we use concave buttons they use convex....its crazy. then again you probly knew what I just told you.

anyway, in answer to the question, concave buttons are best IMO, theyre much more comfortable after hours of play.

I'm not sure which is which..The top pic's buttons are sunk in and the bottom pics buttons are rounded,out..
I like the top..Better..

Concave all the way. Convex just feels weird to me.

The first is concave, while the latter is convex. Just think of concave as going in, like a cave would go into a mountain or whatever. That's how I remembered it in school. wink

Funny that everybody seems to prefer concave buttons, when the Neo Geo Old Style controllers are CONVEX!

But yes, I agree. I will surely get a MAS systems controller when I get back to Spain!

The answer that you seek is concave. Concave is the clear choice.

Convex. Simply because I like to press the button with the palm side of my finger, not just the TIP of my finger. With concave you have to use the tip of a finger in order to be comfortable. not my style.

Lets get technical. Happs convex have a little lighter spring than their concave which makes for less push effort which in turns doesnt wear out you hand as fast. Plus it makes for a faster response. Convex! I would recommend going with what you're used to though as you will perform better on what you have more experience on first.

I dig convex more, especially for fighters that require mashing. However, I dig US sticks more.

CONVEX!!!

Concave buttons irritate the piss out of me.

With the Neo Geo Convex buttons, there are multiple ways of hitting the buttons fast:

1.) Straight up and down, with the fingertips, esp if your fingernail extends beyond the tip of your finger, then the frequency of up/down seems to increase.
2.) Side to side. Because its convex, your fingertip will slide easily, on the tangent of your choice of the button's natural curve.
3.) Double tapping. Neo Geo standard stick buttons are perfect for double tapping. For those moments in Last Resort or Viewpoint where your hand and wrist gets tired from mashing the buttons at 10 times a second, you can use your index and middle fingertips to alternately tap the same button. Its sort of akin to double bass drums in heavy metal music.

I also believe concave buttons reduce blisters and callouses. Everytime I see them in the arcade i'm like, Argh, I wish I could use my NG controllers. They are the best i've ever used.

I like the convex type buttons better but I don't know why. I can use concave just as well, though.

Most going for convex here are into home system.
The question was "arcade buttons".

imho they should be concave as they are the original buttons used on the classic mvs cabs.

It depends on the game too, a frantic assult in MS calls for concave, a button mashing bout of KOF may be better with convex.

Horses for courses, dont know which would be best for Stakes Winner :)

Hey, I'm an MVS owner, and my cab has convex buttons. Granted, it is a Japanese cab, but that is where my opinion is originating from.

Used to have a US cab as well, and like I said: US sticks, Japanese buttons. :D
