With the continued support of both MVS and AES formats by Playmore, and thus the continued expansion of the Neo•Geo library, would it not be a good idea for Playmore to release new batches of memory cards?

The new titles support the memory card save functions, but the number of freely available cards seems to be slowly drying up. Another fact is of course the life span of the cards. Once the battery dies the card is rendered useless and all data lost. When you buy a used card you have no idea how long it will last... days? weeks? years?

I assume the production costs would be pretty low for such a simple peripheral. Playmore could even release a card that holds more than the paltry 2k that the current card does.

Shawn, any chance you can ask Playmore about this? I would imagine demand would be quite high if the retail price was reasonable.

I think its possible to put a new battery in the memory cards when they die, though its a risky thing to do.

Also, I think someone said that it should be possible to get a Panasonic SD memory card to work in such and such a way.

God, I should only post in threads I know about.

It is possible to replace the lithium battery.

Has anyone ever even encountered a dead card? My first was a pack-in included with my system (023233) and still works flawlessly to this day.

Even the couple dozen subsequent cards I have had and sold all worked like new.

I have, I bought one about 6 months ago, worked for about a week, then nothing. I don't absolutely NEED a memory card, but it would be nice to have one, so maybe I'll try ttooddddyy's recommendation and see what happens...

The nice thing about the Neo is that it uses a lot of industry standard cards. The Neo Geo memory card is an SRAM memory card. They may be hard to find but I have heard of people buying like 2meg Panasonic and 8meg Sony SRAM cards and they worked fine in the Neo.

this is true. i sold a 2MB SRAM card (panasonic i THINK) to shawn.

Personally, i use a 64KB Poquet PC "MEMORY CARD" and it's real nice because it has a small battery "drawer" that lets you change the battery when it dies. i'm not 100% sure, but i THINK all mem is lost if the battery is swapped. my card also has a write-protect function.
