I have owned 2. I think its a great convertor. Happiness with the phantom-1 relies on how tight your slots are. If your slots are tight phantom is good...If your slots are loose phantom is bad. Its really that simple.

the only negative thing that I have heard is that the canverter seems like A really tight fit at times. especialy when inserting the MVS carts. some other thoughts please.

It works like a charm. At least it used to...
Thing is, I think, the Phantom-1 has widened the slots on my machine. The convertor used to work perfectly on my #2xxx serial Neo, but after about 9 months in use I get some graphical and sound glitches from it. Problem is solved 80% of the time by tilting the convertor backwards or forward. (but that usually resets the Neo...)

Fit of the MVS cart is really, really tight. Tight as in "my god, I hope I don't push the print out of the MVS casing when I insert the convertor into the game". That's tight. You really need to put some strenght into releasing a MVS cart from the convertor.

I am having my slots replaced by !arcade! in the next few months, as the convertor really is th best thing that has happened to the Neo since '90.

Works fine, provided those slots are tight as hell.

I like to play money puzzle exchanger, and other MVS only oddities on it. Saves space, and allows you to play games w/o the hassles and spacehogging limitations of a cab. Also saves $$ on carts.

Now I only need to pick up a few more carts...

Has anyone else experienced the same problem that
Bad Mofo has had. Where it used to work but then stopped working the way it use to or is suppose to. The reason I ask is because I already have an AES and wanted to go the MVS route. Whether its MVS Supergun or AES Phantom-1 depends on the reliability of the Phantom-1. Thanks and please post. <img src="graemlins/help.gif" border="0" alt="[Help]" />

Ray Young is a crook, don't support him with your money.

And I also heard the motherfucker is a tighter fit than Dark Solidus Snakes mom's twat.

I guess they don't think about these things ahead of time up in Canada, I assume they only tested the damn thing on one system....

I don't believe that the convertor is faulty in my case. It is clearly built to last. I suspect that my slots are just worn out. First thing I'll try is get a RGB cable from Arcade (an official SNK one), and see if that helps. Shipping a Neo from Holland to the US/Canada is pretty costly I presume...

One question guys what are the different model releases. I heared that there is a blue one and a black one what is the differnce. Is there a difference in thickness of the contact connectors and quality of the metal? Just what is the differnce?

well I have had one since they pretty much came out, although I will admit I do not use it as often since I have a Cab and several NGH's.

with my 70,xxx and 230,xxx neo I had no problem with it. on my 16,xxx neo it did not work which could be a slot issue.

The key though to putting the NGM's on the board is to 'wiggle' them Up and Down. then pressing in and pulling out depending if you want to remove or put them in.

As far as revisions I do not think there is a difference But can not say I am 100% sure. From what !Arcade! told me they do runs of them and the color of the board depends on what is on hand at the time.

One the games I play with the covertor I am very happy with it, it is nice to see the hidden Menu's if the are available on the games that never were released in NGH mode. Not all the NGM games have menus though of course

On the colors there I have a Red and Green one. there are also some with Neo-Geo.com, Videogamedepot, !Arcade! and I think Phantom-1 as well screened on it.

the only difference I can think of on the traces is when I went down there in Aug they were just starting to use that new Lead free Trace Technology on thier PCB's so I Imagine the newly run convertors use that. it is kinda of a White trace if I remember correctly. At least the solder points were white. I can also be mistaken on the process since I am not from the business.
