Hey:

My girlfriend spotted this on eBay today and apparently bought it for me, by SNK for the NES, I guess it is a light gun game. Can anyone give me some more info about it, I had never heard of it until today.

Yea, I remember seeing this one years ago. Haven't played it, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like it plays like Operation Wolf.

In the late 80's, SNK, before developing the MVS architecture, built mostly light gun games. Mechanized Attack was one, as well as Operation Wolf/Thunderbolt, Beast Buster, and I believe a P.O.W. light game as well.

These games are not compatible with the MVS system. I'm pretty sure they are JAMMA only.

Operation Wolf and its sequel Operation Thunderbolt were made by Taito, not SNK. Mechanized Attack (SNK's gun game) came out about the same time as Operation Thunderbolt, both with the revolutary concept of TWO guns. I remember beating it with my friends back when it was at our local pizzaria. It had a similar green beret's in the jungle setting as Operation Wolf, except the opposing army consisted of half-man half cyborgs. It was a much better game that Operation Thunderbolt. I've never played the NES version though, I don't know if it used the Zapper or the Control pad.
