Ok, so I already made a thread relating to which games everyone has from SNK on other platforms. Now in your opinion which non-snk platform has the best neo-geo conversions?

My opinion I would have to say that the sega saturn is the best. The games played exceptionally well and the speed and animation was usually of high quality. And the load times were faster then the Neo CD(Metal Slug as an example). Plus, with the ram cart, the Saturn was a 2D powerhouse. Far better then the PS. Check Metal Slug for PSX and the Saturn and compare the two and you will understand what I mean.

Saturn.

The jury is out yet though on the DC. We'll have to wait till Garou: MotW hits.

I'll say Saturn right now, but with MotW and LB2 coming that will probably change. I have KoF collection for Saturn and I don't think it's anything spectacular... the graphics are only OK, and the load times are annoying. The Saturn still wins becuase it has more games (RBFF, SS, etc.) than the DC.

It's the Dreamcast.

The Saturn came up short on its conversions as follows:

Metal Slug- Missing the "Mission 1 Start!" voice. Also, some small animations are cu1t (the arrow signs don't judder as you get close).

KOF'96- There are some major sound problems (the 2P character's intro is cut off). The edit team ending is even lamer than in the Neo-Geo version- because the game crashes.

KOF'97- Missing voice samples (where are Shermie's "Shitsurei!" and Billy Kane's "I wish I could tear him apart!"?). A few missing frames. One of Chizuru's normal moves is different from the Neo version.

The conversions of KOF'95 and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special were excellent, OTOH. The other KOF's and Metal Slug could have benefitted well from the 4 meg cart.

Anyway- the Dreamcast has plenty of RAM and it can do 2D well. Last Blade 2 turned out nice. I think DC can do Garou perfectly. If SNK were to bring out Metal Slug 3 and KOF2000, there'd be a nice hat trick for the Dreamcast's final year.

SNES!!! Hehe not really :P

I'd have to go with DC. Saturn had some nice ports (better than the PSX, way better) but they still fell short in a lot of respects. It may have more games, but the quality on the DC is better. Depends on whether you want quality or quantity really

As far as quality is concened, the DC is better. All the frames and original content from the MVS or cart can be transfered over with out any loss. However, since there are more SNK games on the Saturn, I'd have to say that the Saturn is the best non-SNK platform for their games.

PS: Am I the only one who doesn't like the 3D backgrounds in KoF Dream Match and Evolution on the DC?

No, you are not. Polygons and King of Fighters are like oil and water.

Don't worry - I like the 3D backgrounds in KoF 98 and 99 on DC (Especially 99's new ones!)

KoF 96 glitches if you have an ST key for a converter. You need a modded Jap system or a 4-in-One
