I m a newbie about what is MVS...
I suppose there are many different supports (materiels, references)that are compatible with the SNK games....
Since I will buy an MVS system(only for SNK games ) I woud like you to tell me which SNK system to buy.
And, It would be nice if someone could explain to me what slots are...3 slots , 4 slots etc..?

the MVS is the arcade version of the neo geo (multi video game system). the MVS board comes in 1,2,4,6 slot versions which mean that there are that many slots for MVS game carts. The MVS board itself is sorta like the console w/o a power source. you have a Supergun or a cabinet, you can plug in your MVS board & a cart & play =) the initial investment is costly, but the games are cheaper & the quality is better than the AES

MVS games are not censored. Samurai Shodown 1's US NGHC (NG Home Cart) has fighters that apparently bleed milk. On the MVS game this is not so- you see blood.

Some MVS games will offer difficulty level settings not found in home versions. Take KOF'94 for example:

NGHC: Easy, Normal, MVS (that's equivalent to MVS setting 4), Hard
MVS: 1-8 (turn on your test switch and set that via the soft dip config).

When you're in the soft dip menu, you'll find a LOT of settings that the NGHC doesn't offer. You can mess with the number of lives, scores required for bonus lives, etc. In Viewpoint, the MVS will let you enable 2 player simultaneous play (which gets rid of the restart points in the 1P game).

yes, the quality is better than the home system. the home system (AES) connects via video cables to a regular TV & the image is less sharp. buying a supergun allows you to play the MVS board w/ MVS carts on a TV, but most superguns are not perfect. I bought a supergun & a cabinet. the supergun video quality is so-so at best.

The cabinets have the best quality b/c they break up the signal into 3 separate channels while the TV cables have only a single channel (the regular video cable) or two channels (the s-video cable)

considering that the AES system is expensive, & the supergun is expensive (i bought one for $300).

The cabinet ends up at about the same price if you shop around. I got a cabinet for $450 (but i've seen some sell for as few as $200)& it is the best investment for quality of experience.

You're referring to RGB right? Im getting a home system, and you can also hook that up to RGB. You'll need an arcade monitor though or an old Commadore monitor.
