Biggest let-down for an expensive game?

What games did you plunk down a chunky sum of cash for, only to feel underwhelmed?

You don't have to include the price you paid if you don't want to

For me, I'd say Last Blade 2...I basically bought it as a collector, but since I enjoyed the first I thought I'd love the second. To be perfectly honest, I thought the first was higher-quality. I like it, but it wasn't quite worth the $500 I paid for it through eBay.

hmmmm.... Galaxy Fight is probably the my least favorite game I own. Though I didn't spend that much on it.

The Super Spy, I payed $50 for the MVS when I was poor... I mean poor. Played it for one day and sold it again for $45... oh well, atleast I got back most of my money on it. It doesn't compare to the Home Carts though, this is why I am shocked most of you hate emulation. I mean when a game is $500, you would think you'd check it out first with Rage and see if it is worth the cash. I have bought 60 MVS games thanks to Rage, I have to say I would never have purchased a large number of them if I would not have seen/played them first through emulation. I mean sure people talk about Super Dodge Ball and Twinkle Star Sprites, but where the hell can you play these games in an arcade? Oh well, just my rant. I know a lot of you hate emulation cause some lamers use it for evil and would never buy a game, but there are good uses too.

Nruva you make an excellent point. When I'm paying hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for a game, I will make sure I try it out first. I think the ability to "try before you buy" is NeoRage's best attribute. It is just a shame that many people abuse such a useful and convenient technology.

Probadly ALTERED BEAST or Captain America and the Avengers(Both Jamma). I used to really like these back in 1990 and bought them recently(on a retro kick). There not as good as I remember.

For me its AES Kof 99...

Compare to 98
-Fewer character.
-Slower game play.
-Bad control.
-Absense of many cool characters.
-Entry of sucking new character Bao.

I sold it after a couple of weeks.
Sorry for 99 fans, but I like 99 the least.

Earthworm Jim for GBA for £50... I was expecting a upgraded version of the original in pocket form.... but got a shocking travesty of a conversion. *Shudders* Sold it for £20 on Saturday, so I lost £30 for that total shit.

I can't agree more. I never bought it though, i had a NeoCD bootleg.

I'd say plunking down $60 for Guardian Heroes. The game is very good, but not that good. I was expecting way too much from it, but oh well. not as bad as some other deals.

I traded a new/mint KofF2000 US NGF for it, and the game only had 15 mins worth of play. The ending was sorry...yes, Stikers is that sorry...

I remember Gamestuff as well. Die Hard became Gamecave (I think) which is know part of express.com. I also just found out when I was looking through some of my older phone numbers for game stores (before the internet) and found out that Universal Video games became Buyrite! What happened? I use to talk to the guy at Universe a lot and they had great customer relations but Buyrite's customer service sucks!!

I paid $150 for Chotetsu Brikin'ger for the Neo Geo CD. It did not live up to the hype as far as I was concerned. This shmup gave me that feeling of "Hmm... shouldn't you be playing Darius Gaiden, Pulstar, or Viewpoint instead?".

Hmmm... Real Bout Fatal Fury Special ( I beat it in a half hour -- the same day it arrived via UPS!).
