I've got a rather simple question that I'm sure pretty much everybody else on the forum except for me can answer:

In reference to Neo Geo cartridge sizes, is the meg count like megabyte or megabits? Is KOF2001 (coming in at around 800 megs) larger than the capacity of a single CD then? It would explain why they're so expensive....

Should be megabyte, and yes, KOF2001 won't fit into CD, maybe DVD!

So Megs doesn't correspond to the computer term megabytes then, because a CD can hold 700+ megabytes I believe. How many Neo Geo "Megs" in a megabyte then, or do they even correspond? It sure seems that a CD should be able to hold most of the Neo Geo games, except for the newest ones. How else do we get Neo Geo CD games that are exact (aren't they?) copies of the Rom games?

Neo meg counts are in Mega Bits, so you need to divide by 8 to get count in Mega Bytes.

Example, MS3 is 708Megs, which equals to 88,5 Mega Bytes.

Could put about 7 times MS3 onto a CD, or split it on 60 or so Floppy disks.

Wonder how many perfored carts would be required to stock it <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" />

Bits, these games are small... We are just apporaching 100 Megabytes of data with them... Thats why those nice people on ebay can sell 2-3 CDs full of every Neo Geo ROM!!!

Megabits guys, not Megabytes... if they were Megabytes the carts would cost thousands...

Oh, that's the reason! For all this time, I've always thought that it was megabytes. I can't believe that a single carts can carry such a huge amount of data (892 megs for KOF2001)... :D

Thx for clearing that up, BRANDI!!

Where is final confirmation for that?

Remember - Sengoku 3 was long thought to be 396 Megs (as announced so by the Neo Store e.g.) and when the AES cart finally arrived it was 364.
