Some people are nuts! You could buy the mvs version, a one slot board, and a super gun for that much!

indeed. but it has some collectible value. You should know that there are 2 extreme type of buyers and a few more in between. The two are pure consumer and pure collector. Consumer play; collector collect.

Another hidden buyer is the trader, who is looking for money only.

well... IMO you must be least a player before a collector - but you can play games without collecting.

Traders can be gamers/collectors too, you know.

Look I said those are the "extremes". Then I said there are those who fall in between so you can gauge them yourselves. There would be people who are really balance. They collect equally as much as they play. There are people who collect more than they play, etc.

The ones that are named are the "extremes" which means the "ideal" or "pure" state; they may exist but I doubt there would be many if they do.

If it wasn't expensive, it wouldn't be a hobby. Remember, hobbies are expensive, interests are free. And if you want to see an example of the extreme Neo*Geo Freak, I will collect anything that's Neo*Geo, but I use all of it, and I never sell anything. I intend to be buried with my collection.

I just got mine for 280$ from a Japanese auction, that is IMO a more appropriate price.

Totally agree. The AES are MUCH more beautiful than MVS.
By the way, I paid 430USD for my MOTW. <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" />

DC w/2 controls and VMU: $74
Mark of the Wolves: $32(plus tax in TN)
All together $106. And you can find MOTW for $20 at some places...

I"m not bashing aes owners. The carts do look nicer but they are overpriced. I buy games to play them not look at the carts *shrug* The dc version probly sucks because of load times. I bought garou and an mvs board for $225. Thanks searchingtom :D

Amen Fran! If you think it's a waste, just don't buy it. I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but I don't go around telling you how much better my AES carts are and how it's a waste to buy crappy MVS stuff.

eh.
my only regret is not buying it from SNK
when it first came out.
i had a friend that had a hell of a time
trying to get it from a store but they sold
it before he could buy it from them.
even though it was on hold for him.
imagine that.
when i have the money i ll get MotW.
its a good game and its on my agenda of games to get.
it is a fatal fury after all.
and who can resist that sexy yellow spine?
