I'm thinking about switching my collecting preference from JPN AES carts to US AES carts. I'm doing this for the sole reason that I can read the US manuals and they would there for mean more to me. So are American AES carts hard to come by?

Most of the time, yes!

Just look at the price list for the rarity. Most of the time, you will see that the US version is slightly harder to find AND they tend to be worth more. Just look at the slugs!

Of course, US carts are harder to find than their Jap counterparts and worth more.

Why are you switching though? Don't you like the 'full screen' cover on Jap carts :D ?

Yes but if you want one day to have a complete collection of AES release, you better keep jap.

For most of the Neo game you don't need a manual, but do what you want.

The eternal question: what is better & what do you prefer ? - jap or US. It's already expensive for a jap release so I don't see any reason to buy US except if you're maniac of collecting.

:D

Good point ray_7! I was just thinking to myself after I posted this topic and said self, there's really no reason to change. After all, every Neo Geo game was and is made to be as simple as possible since they are all arcade games at heart. Besides, most how-to menus give you more than enough information on the game itself. Yes, I have seen the light and "As the lord is my shepherd, I shall not want US AES carts". ;)

There are JPN carts that are rarer than their U.S./Euro counterparts, like Viewpoint, Last Resort, GANGAN, Ninja Commando, Andro Dunos...

Simple question - simple analysis:

1. From the period `95 to now - ALL US carts are harder to find and rarer than their jap counterpart

2. From the period `91 to `94 there are a couple of jap carts (Brandi gave some examples) for which the contrary holds true.

Conclusion: 90% of the time - yes! :D
