Which do you prefer the arcade joystick or the joypad?

I notice that the earlier version of Neo-Geo console comes with the arcade joystick controller as opposed to the more compact joypad you can buy. Which do you prefer? Which provides better response and control for you?

when playing fighting games

i prefer to use the joystick

it offers better control adn ease of
performing moves and combos

gamepad is not bad too,
it offer better precision

but when i use gamepad too much
it jus give me those bruises in my thumbs
and other fingers as well...

The good old joystick... precise and unbreakable

I prefer a Stick cuz it has that "feeling" that I love so dearly which is that oldskool feeling from back in the day!

For arcade quality, there is nothing better than the Max 330 Mega. Those joypads are too small for my tastes, and the reaction quality of the 330 is far greater than that of the joypad. Besides, I think it is high time that we let left thumbs get some rest, wouldn't you agree?

joystick!

For the first couple of years when i had the AES system i use to use the joystick but when i got my neo cd i used the joypads on that and when i sold my neogeo cd i decided to give away one of the joysticks instead of one of my joypad as i had got more used to it.
and when i got my supergun i still had that joypad so i could use that on the board itself and its stiull as tight as anything in control, unlike the stick which i found occasionally use to get stuck and some of the specials would not work unless i gave it a good ramming.

only thing that is harder i find on the joypad than they joystick is the 2 button pushes for a hard slice on games like shodown as the buttons on the joystick were ALOT bigger and moee receptive so there were less mistakes.

so to answer your question i use a joypad even though its not always the best thing to use, but it doesnt take up much space either

Depends, Neo CD pads are really rubbish. The Neo Geo Arcade controllers are really much better, and for those who never got or tryed the Hori "Fighting" Stics, they should give a try. There are some gamepads that are really good to perform any move, like those Sega Genesis/Mega Drive 6-Button pads. Wonderfull cross key. My opinion.
