Being a hardcore gamer (as most on this forum are) I feel that most gamers today cannot appreciate the games from yesteryear. I enjoy going into my collection of games and playing old classics like samurai showdown and Metal Slug. Some of my friends come over and sometimes they watch me play and they say things like: "Man, why are you playing this old crap!" or "2D games suck!" What I'm try to get at is that most gamers today do not have a clue what good games are. They assume that a game can only be good if is composed of polygons and is in 3d. They think that because a game is old that it is no longer fun to play anymore. Of course we all know this is far from the truth. One of the reasons why we never saw most SNK games on PSX and Saturn in the US was because they know that people would not buy them because they are 2d. There are fewer Hardcore gamers now as well. If you want to invest in a great system with excellent 2d capabiliites, go get yourself a gameboy advance. I've been playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and it is awesome! I believe this system will do awesome not only for the mainstream public, but also for all the hardcore gamers. Perhaps we may see some old SNK classics on the gameboy Advance. Now that would rock!
