PSO: Enough is Enough!!!

I never thought about saying much about this really but after what happened to a friend of mine tonight, I have decided to rant a bit. Why you ask? Easy. U.S. & Euro PSO gamers SUCK!!!! I have tried to ignore the mass amount of cheating & hacking going on but my friend who is playing a Force was in a game and was givin a God/HP--. I didn't think much of it until he told me what it did to him. He equipped the item and everything was fine. Well guess what? He can't join in ANY online games anymore becuase Sega tracked it as a hacked item. No Biggie I say, I tell him to just go into Offline Mode and toss it to shops or trash it.

Now here's the kicker.....He CAN'T REMOVE THE THING!!! Everytime he tries to take it off be it in the Forest, Caves, Mines, Ruins AND the City. He instantly DIES!! So now he's stuck with a Level 57 Force he worked so hard on creating and he can't even play online with it anymore becuase some Jackass made an item that fucks you out of being able to play. I tried several ways of getting this POS item off him but it seems I'm finally going to have to get a Fucking Gameshark just to help him not get killed removing this tainted thing. After tonight I now more than ever realize why Japanese gamers are so sick of other people in PSO. It's because of the lameass Bullshit Pker's *Which Kodomo got it done to him by a guy who did it because he said 'It's Fun'.* I went to the Japan server and tries to talk to a few people there about Version 2 seeing as I had legit and honest questions about it. I was totally ignore EXPECT for the Japanese gamers who KNEW me from when PSO 1st came out.

I do value their friendship because at least they know I have no desire to do underhanded bullshit like what just happened to my friend. I don't like the GameShark and I wish I could kick Interact in the ass for ruining a perfectly great game which allows people to be so cruel to others online. This whole thing has made me ASHAMED to be called an American gamer becuase I quite frankly have never seen so much open ABUSE of an online game. EVER! I know what I'm saying won't change the minds of the people who cheat but in the end I just wanted to give you guys a veiwpoint from someone who tries to ENJOY the game instead of running around ruining it for others. I have never gotten Pked myself because almost all the time I'm smart enough to see it coming. So to those of you who feel to take such perverse pleasure in ruining other people's fun. I gave you a big fucking Middle finger to what you are doing. There..I said my peace...

Ahhhh... PSO... the game, the honest gamers, the heroes and the hords of cheaters and PK'ers. It is so much like the real word that it is almost scary at times.

I've probably spent about 300+ hours in that game. I've got three characters:

Tiptonium - Ranger
Lil'Tink - Hunter
Pharticus - Force

It wasn't until my third character, Pharticus, that I started running into too many cheaters and PK'ers. I found that it was better to play with those you know or play password protected games. It seemed that for a while anytime I entered a public game with strangers I'd end up playing fith folks that 1) try to take all items 2) use hacked items 3) Had way too much money to spend 4) PK'd me.

Sega has been working hard to make sure that all cheaters are punished in some ways. Bottom line, don't pick up an item that has wacked out stats that someone is trying to give you.

The game rocks. I have not logged in in over 5 weeks. It was taking up too much of my free time! I'll be back on soon though and when PSO2 comes out, well... I guess I'll be online a lot again.

Ok maybe my post wasn't direct enough. I love Phantasy Star Online. It's a LOT of fun. The game just got 'fucked' over by people who take pleasure in 'ruining' the game for others by PKing them. How would you feel if some dipshit walked up to you and smacked your Level 100 chracter down and you ended up with all of your shit gone and erased away? Not a nice thought is it? Now picture THAT happening on a regular basis.

Phantasy Star Online Version 2 is so far 100% PROTECTED from Version 1 bullshit BUT, it's only a matter of time before people figure out how to fuck with them also. Even If Sega says they are doing something about it. I will have to SEE it to belive it becuase to be quite frank, Sega can't cacth everyone becuase some people are too fucking sneaky in going about it. I like the way PSO version 2 looks and it's a shame Naka's work is being totally fucked over by people who have no desire to play but, Cheat their way into winning.

I will still buy version 2 but I will no longer try to meet new people much anymore and stay within my own circle of gamers. Why should I even bother when the chance of getting fucked is so high? It's Russian Roulette PSO Sytle. You take a chance at meeting honest people and having fun or get fucked over. Like I said before, It's no wonder Japanese gamers don't talk to other countries hardly anymore. The Majority of them just are disgusted as I am by the bullshit.

As far as who's making them. Anyone with a Fucking GameShark can do it. it's easy, get the codes off several sites and booyah. You're now a l33t PSO gamer with the ablity to dominate other players into submission. Makes me real proud to see that cheating is so fucking cool. I wish Sege would have THOUGHT of this kind of shit happening BEFORE the game was released. Let me ask all the non-cheaters a question, How many of you can honestly say that you have found any good weapons, and when I mean good I mean like a Lavis cannon or a spread needle? Well ok mabye some of you have but the rest of us who dont have 400 or 500 hours of gameplay find CRAP!!! I had a level 98 force and guess what I found-THE FUCKING CLUB OF LACONIUM. Well thats just simple sega bullshit. I'm a big gamer, and I spent 3 or 4 hours every night after work playing, and for me finding a monomate after I spent 5 scape dolls trying to kill Falz(on V-Hard), is complete and utter bullshit!! Plain and simple!! So I went out and bought my little friend Mr.Gameshark. Now I have all the weapons and have three characters all with maxed techs-thats it! I didnt max out my hit points or any of that, and I didnt go up like 20 levels a hit, Im just trying to get more out of the game since Ive played it to hell !! I mean be honest, you can only go through the same four levels before things get a bit boring.

As far as real cheating, like pking and FSOD and stuff like that, I just now got into that, and not for the reason of going out to kill people randomly, but just to see what its like and how it works. Im not into fucking up peoples games or doing things to others that would ruin their game. I go and PK all the other cheaters like in pk battles, and I pk my friends for fun, but thats it!. Now I understand that there are people who do things like you all said, just to be mean, and thats wrong I agree, but what Im doing is just for me and my friends and no one else! Someone said earlier that this game was beginning to seem like real life, and thats true, there will always be someone trying to fuck you when you least expect it. So my solution, play a locked game, thats all I play now.

If Sega found a way to stop all online cheating I wouldnt have a problem abandoning the gameshark. What gets me is that all te non-cheaters are quick to pimp me out to go dupe them something. I hear people in the game saying that people who cheat are ruining the game and to some degree thats true, but those are the same poeple who are so quick to ask you for a lavis cannon even though you are a cheater, and they know that the item is duped or made.

Lemon, you couldn't be farther from the truth. There is a lot of shame in youre game. Not that i really want to bash you or anything, because you are like the many cheaters on PSO. There are so many nowadays that ive noticed a GREAT decline in the numbet of thiefs, because now they can just create weapons using GS. BonusKun is right in declaring that cheaters hurt us real gamers, yet he shouldnt blame interact for releasing the GS. Interact is just the company that makes it, and no one was really complaining when the GS was first released. Obviously they didnt intend to ruin other gamers experience, just to enhance it for those who found games too difficult.

I feel sorry for people like lemon, but i understand in a way of where they are coming from. After all, we are Americans, and we will always have that get rich quick philosophy. It is unfortunate that so many people cheat nowadays, id estimate that at least a third of the people (US) that i meet use GS.

As for not having the time to earn your real weapons, well thats too bad. Dont whine about having to cheat just cause you dont "have the time". I was able to build up a truly legit 100 back when the game first started, and its still so addictive i play almost every day. So if you truly enjoyed the game, you wouldnt have any trouble spending hundreds of hours playing it.

Now what the hell are you spanking these Weapons? If you have played PSO as long as I have finding a Normal LEGIT fucking weapon with a value of 50% VS Dark or higher ALWAYS in the end turns out better and it easier than fucking around trying to get ultra rare shit that you can show yourself off as the l337 PSO gamer. Which you and I both know a lot of people like to show off their duped & hacked Shit. The Spread Needle is the gayest of all because it prevents other users out there from getting levels because you are killing shit so fast. Get off your high horse and forget all the damn rares becuase most of them *Holy Ray, Double Saber, Silence Claw, ect ect* Suck. All you need is a good solid weapon with good %'s and you can still kick ass.

Also if you want to talk about No Shame. Why is it everyone and their fucking uncle these days have Rare Mags? It killed what mystery the game had when newbies are running around with a fucking RoboChao, Nightopian, Opa-Opa, or Chao Mag. I actually FOUND a Heart of Pain Mag cell but I won't fucking use it becuase it would make me look like some fucking cheater.

As far as duping I don't support that either. It's guys like you who run around going Hey I cheat so what? Which really ruin it for people trying to PLAY BY THE RULES!!! SO if you are hearing me BITCH BITCH BITCH! Then DEAL with it. I have my God Givin right to BICTH as much as you have your to be a Shameless cheater.

2ndly LIke I said Version 2 is 100% Protected from Version 1 bullshit but we all KNOW that's not going to last forever. Also Sega busting cheaters online, I'd like to see THAT last forver. People will always find a way to cheat. It's the ones who have fucking morals who are really worth playing with.

It's players like you who have thankfully alienated a lot of people inculded most of the Japanese gamers from playing with you becaue you 'Cheat' to win. Thanks. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself because in this game which was meant for Co-op play. You most certainly have 'Ruined' it for others.

I go to the first game I see 'FunTimes', whatever the fuck that means. I enter and ask their location, they say the forest. There are 2 of them, with similar names. I enter the forest and this is what happens:

I take one step and die.
I am ressurected.
Me: "why did you do that'
shitbag: "So you learn no to fuck with us."
me: "Okay, but why, what did i do?"
shitbag: "It's fun."
I was then killed 3 times, each time resurected and killed again. I ran for the warp back to town and, of course, the guy kills me as I'm warping, so the game freezes.

I pulled the phone line out, went back in and noticed that all of my weapons were gone. I did not have them equipped <just incase, I had a varista>, yet they were the only things that were missing.

Simply put, it's a pile of shit. I hate rants as much as the next guy, and don't think that Japanese players are that much different/better, but I will say that the 5 times that I've ventured onto the japanese servers has been nothing but fun. The game was fun, they gave me rares for no good reason and it was what it was.

Face it, as that ever so prohetic calvin and hobbes strip said "Nothing helps a bad mood like spreading it around". There's quite a few people in PSO <and it seems like the shitbags are the norm now, who just want to be bitches and ruin the game.

As a result, It's password locked games only and zero trades with anyone outside the circle. What happend to your friend BK was a pile of shit, and I would honestly give up the game if that happened to me, but without the threat of real life physical violence, 'net monkey's run rampant like the annoying bitches they are. Such is life...

Cheating at PSO is soooooo fucking childish. Oh no, can't get ALL the rares you want? Guess what? IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY!!! THAT'S WHY THEY'RE RARE!!!!!!

Now that I got that out of the way, I must say I have seen my share of immature antics thanks to the Game Shark. As a result, when I last played some time ago I only did so in password protected rooms.

Why can't people be satisfied with an awesome game like PSO the way it is? Why do they have to fuck with things and refuse to play by the rules, thereby ruining the experience for LEGIT gamers?

I really hope version 2 locks out the Game Shark codes and forces people to play thru the game normally, they way it was developed. Sure, you can boost your character, give yourself all the rare items and impossible Mags... but what's the point? Now you've made the game too easy, and you didn't EARN any of the shit yourself.

First and foremost I clearly stated that I cheat only for myself.
I also said that i agree with everyone regarding the extent to which cheating has saturated the game.

BUT..whatever bad experiences everyone has had in the game, I dont thinks its fair to blame it on me. I just wanted everyone to know that there are a lot of gamers who do play the game and earn things, and then there is some like me who played the game every night since it came out and found SHIT!! So why should I have to waste my time playing the game over and over and over just so I can mabye one day find a rare weapon? Thats just plain stupid! I have school and work to attend to and whoever said I was whining about not having time-FUCK YOU, I wasn't whining, I was just saying that I played many hours every night and still nothing. And as for Bonuskun saying that I just like to show off what I made-HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT I DO WITH MY WEAPONS?? You automatically assumed that I have some kind of complex inside me and therefor I have to show the world that I have a Lavis cannon! That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

And as for the needle being the gayest weapon inthe game-YES your right it is, but when your fighting Falz on V-hard it comes in handy.

Look, dont feel sorry for me because you think Im lost in a sea of cheating and I really dont know what Im doing. Or that my reasoning of good and evil is somehow different from everyone elsesbecause thats so far form the truth. I know exactly what Im doing, if I told you that I only cheat offline would you still attack me like you did? I dont think so, but since I said that I have made weapons everyone thinks Im the reason that Japanese gamers dont want to play with us Americans. Well the funny thing about the Japanese, is that they started cheating before all of us. How you ask? Well as I recall, some luck people in Japan won sonic knuckles and some else won the egg blaster in some contest. So magically both items started to appear in large numbers. Well to me that smells like duping, and It wasnt me who did it!!

So all i want to say is that you are correct in saying that cheaters have brought the game down, BUT..its not fair to say that justt because some people dont have a thousand hours of gameplay, that they shouldnt have the chance to play with some fun weapons. And yes, the Holy Ray is a fun weapon, and if you all played a force character like I have(which was totally legit) you would agree that it IS a forces best friend.

Well the funny thing about the Japanese, is that they started cheating before all of us. How you ask? Well as I recall, some luck people in Japan won sonic knuckles and some else won the egg blaster in some contest. So magically both items started to appear in large numbers. Well to me that smells like duping, and It wasnt me who did it!!

So all i want to say is that you are correct in saying that cheaters have brought the game down, BUT..its not fair to say that justt because some people dont have a thousand hours of gameplay, that they shouldnt have the chance to play with some fun weapons. And yes, the Holy Ray is a fun weapon, and if you all played a force character like I have(which was totally legit) you would agree that it IS a forces best friend.

If you have to use a Game Shark and cheat to get said items what the hell is the point? They lose all value.

Hmm, this is the first I've heard about this. I played online once and it was a horrible experience. I was playing a game and named it "newbies welcome" because
1. I had a bunch of weapons that to me were obsolete
2. I wished I had somewhere/someone to play with when I first started
3. Just wanted to play with others...

Yeah, i know, after looking back now I find that my room name was a BAD idea. I was running around killing monsters when 2 others joined. I watched them warp in and said hi. Hey I have quite a busy schedule myself but I still make time to enjoy the game. So don't give me that lame excuse. Doesn't mean I have to cheat to feel some sense of fullfillment. I have over 500 Hours logged in. I found some good stuff and some awesome stuff and that's it. Don't you get disgusted by all the peple going. No actually it's not stupid. Why make a POS weapon expect to check it out, Drool on it, and show the world you have some l337 shit. Simple fact is. You cheated. Ruined the game, Fucked over the chance of any real enjoyment by finding those items. Oh and yes almost everyone is doing it. Not just you so once again I'm saying this is not directed at you but, since you went there to say something about my BITCHING then expect some kind of response in the end.

Oh don't hand me that BS!! ANY character can beat Dark Falz on V-Hard with 2 things, Being level 65 or higher and a good weapon VS Dark. You know by now the Guns with the Draw Series work well on Dark Falz's final form. I've beaten Falz with a Humar, Racast and a fucking Formarl so don't tell me it's near impossible because it's not. The ONLY touble you might have is the 1st form with the Dark Needles but that's beatable if you just don't stand fucking still and move around into more open spaces. Keep Scape Dolls and Trimates on you and you can beat him. The Caves Boss when I was 1st playing was more of a Bitch than Dark Falz was!

Oh and one of the reasons why he's griping about this is becuase Dark Falz's final form casts Grants which is a light based spell and usually people with HP under 350 will go down in one shot due to it's being unblockable. The MOST you can do is wear some Resist/Saint to boost your Defense VS Light attacks but if your levels are high enough, You can win.

I didn't blame you for all cheating. I'm bitching at you for resorting TO CHEATING. You cannot justify your words in anyway expect that you cheated. Yeah it's a fun weapon. That has only a fucking 5% chance appearing under one section ID. 5%!! Why does everyone have one then? It's lame. Stupid. And like I said before kills the mystery of the game. 2ndly Why is that gun so good? Why not get a Varista or Vise Mechguns with like kickass %'s? I mean hell, So you find a lot of them on V-Hard. For a couple weeks, there had been a huge problem with a bug exploit allowing one play to kill another. This made use of a hacked Devil/Technique-- item which caused a player's Technique levels to be a negative number. When a player equipped with this hacked unit casted Resta, it would take HP away from other teammates, instead of adding them.This would usually result in the teammates' death. Users who attempt to equip or possess a Devil/Technique-- are now disconnected immediately from Sega's servers.

Do you sense it? I say that Sega says that this is cheating. Amazing huh? Guess you can't go around and try to kill other players now if you wanted to. It's great now that the playing field is somewhat leveled again. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Also this from someone who plays a Force.

In my life as a Force, if I had one thing to do over again, it would be in how I raised my first MAG. I raised it (ultimately, a Kabanda type) with the idea of having high Mind (MST boost). Whenever I got a better gun, I'd switch to raising Dex (ATA boost) until I could use that gun. This made my Techniques fairly strong, and gave me a fair amount of TP. However, my physical attacks were very weak. Somewhere close to level 40, I realized that I wasn't capable of hurting much of anything at Hard difficulty except with Techniques, making solo play a long ordeal of hit and run or trips to Pioneer 2 for TP recharge. So I set a five minute alarm and over the course of a day of work and other things, I raised a second MAG (a Naraka type) and feed it nothing but Moon Atomizers to boost Power (ATP) and Dex to the point where my ATP and ATA stats were maxed. Having this put me to near parity as a melee or gun fighter to many Hunters and Rangers of an equal level, and superior to those with underdeveloped MAGs.

Now you see Lemonflav? You have no excuse being a Force. If you just took the time and patience to play the game fairly like this guy did, You would have been inspried like I am now to actually want to sit down and try to do something of the same thing. Cheating is not a way to win. It's a way to convince yourself that you are good.

Ok, so it seems like we are going in circles here. You say Im a cheater and I say I am. Well ok, lets move on.

Im trying to tell everyone that Im not like all the hackers, or thepeople looking to PK you just so they can steal your stuff.
I am however an honest gamer, who DID play the game to its completion and who earned a lvl 100 force without cheating. So please dont say Im dishonest or I have some void in me that needs to be fullfilled because thats wrong. I played the game with everyone of you when it first came out, but now Ive grown tired of the Forest, and the Caves, and the Mines, and the Ruins. You keep telling me that you find good stuff and thats cool, and sometimes on the rare occation so did I, and it was such a treat. Until the day I saw the holy ray for the first time. Im sure you thought the same thing I did-" Wow!! I want one!!" but like you said yourself, only 5% of people have a 5% chance in finding one. But you see with that aside I still played, and played, and played, hopingthat the one special weapon I find would be it. Sure I found ONE double saber, but that was it. So after I got to lvl 100 WITH OUT CHEATING, i decided to get a gs.
You keep saying that I make weapons just so I can show them off like its some kind of contest- Well again-NO i dont, I make them so I can try them out and to have some fun. To me thats fun ,to you its cheating, well ok then. Dont say I do things that I dont.

Im not out to hurt you or anyone else, If you feel Im somwhow cheaping the game then thats fine but remember, Im cheaping my experiance not yours. I still play the game all the time, and yes i have all the rare things, but as I have said they are for my personal enjoyment, they are not for show, and I dont dupe like crazy giving them to all the newbies just to be nice.
I myself reached a point where I didnt want to play anymore, I was PKed sooo many times by poeple who came into a game being all nice and then they would kill you. And the funny thing about that is, since I have a gs I can make any weapon I want, and so can the fuckers who PK people and steal their shit. Thats just stupid. Finally I got tired of going into games not knowing what may happen so I learned how to PK for myself, and please dont tel me that its a lame excuse, because anyone who has gotten PKed or frozen and had to reset knows that rage of losing stuff- I know I do. So naturally I wanted to learn how to PK people as a defence option. Speaking form experience, the cheaters who do PK people arent so quick to share the information regarding how they PK, it may seem like everyone is doing it, but their not. Ive meet poeple in PK clans that all they do is make new characters and go and PK people everyday. And before you say it-YES THAT IS SOOO LAME!!

Hello there guys,

As expected there has been a lot of talk about cheating in the phenomenom known as PSO. Here, not only will I give my opinion, but some good suggestions as well to help prevent yourself from being a victim.

Let me start out by saying this, PSO is the first REAL rpg-like online playing game for a home console. Saying that, I think Sega was short-sighted on how they proceeded to develop this game. Even if they enlisted the help of programmers from Everquest and Ultima Online, it probably wouldn't have helped much since neither game has problems with GS users.

If there is one thing I'm extremely upset about, is the failure on Sega's part to notify gamers about certain "features" of PSO. Let me give you an example:

When I started playing PSO back in late February, I was playing it with my brother who had the game before I did. Although is was my brother's game, I put it way more work than he did. We had a nice level 46 hunter that had an awesome mag and a few rares. Two weeks later, a friend on IRC told me that you canNOT transfer the saved VMU over to my Dreamcast. As you can imagine, I'm infuriated as that basically means that all the hours I've spent on this character was in vain. Sega should have had it in bold print on the box that says "PLAYER VMU SAVES CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED." To my knowledge, Sega has only done this with this game, so it's fitting that they should have made that clear.

Moving on to the cheating problem.. I'm not about to debate the (de)merits of cheating vs non-cheating. The solution is simple: play with people that you trust. I also have another suggestion for those of you who have a GS. Use their own medicine against them. There are HELPFUL codes that I encourage for use when playing with strangers. If I was playing with strangers, I would enter the code that prevents me from losing my weapon when I die. There is also a code that allows you to use a copy of your character, just in case you get BSOD'd and lose your character data.

For the former idea, there are group of us on irc.chat-solutions.org in #GameGO! that regularly engage in PSO. And boy am I fortunate, I'm starting a new character and people like ECM, Kodomo, and BonusKun has helped me a lot with items, tips, and assistance when fighting through tough areas. I'm sure they would be willing to do the same for you.

In conclusion, cheating is a constant, and no amount of programming can really stop it, just keep it in check (rarity, I know). The best thing is to develop trustworthy partners to play through the game with and I guarantee you that you will get the fulfillment you are looking for in this game that makes that $50 worthwhile spent.
