Leaving the Scene?

I have noticed more and more members leaving the neo scene lately, they are selling off their entire collection,
some moving on to the less hostile MVS carts.

I have mixed feelings, I feel like I ve been dragging on for longer and longer , its like a old girlfriend you wanna dump, but you just can't because of all the memories you ve had together.

Anybody else see themselves moving on, in the near future,
or moving on the MVS ?

Unfortunately, these boards are getting cluttered with members that are simply looking for an active forum and care little about the Neo. :(

EXACTLY!
Let's not name names, but go to the "top 3 consoles" thread in unrelated and round up all the people who didn't include the neo geo in their top list, and you see that indeed too many people here aren't here for the neo geo. <img src="graemlins/blowtop.gif" border="0" alt="[Blow Top]" /> <img src="graemlins/veryangry.gif" border="0" alt="[Very Angry]" />

My bigest fear is what happens when the sad day comes when they stop making carts for the neo. Ive seen so many people post crap like."If Metal slug 4 is't released for the AES im leaving the Neo scene" What kind of crap talk is that? It's a shame :(

I don't quite get how moving to MVS is leaving the Neo Scene. Might be because I was Bottle fed MVS from day one. I thought about it and my decision was based on wanting to play the Arcade games on an Arcade machine. I have 4 systems already hooked into my TV. Guess which is the first to get played when company comes over? Yep the quarter muncher MVS. Anyway, maybe they are leaving the AES scene but I think MVS & AES are both the "Neo Scene"

You are right, I find the boards very messy sometimes, its flooded with non-topics, and the selling form is flooded with non neo related items listed everywhere separately. Just not the same anymore.

I think you misunderstood, I said some AES owners are moving to the less collectable MVS carts

I'll be honest with you NeoGeo wasn't in my list... cuz it's not one of my top 3...

When I actually own one I'll be more than glad to get back to ya...

Oh ya, I would of put Neo Rage X, but I didn't think that would go over to well :)

Actually if it means much. I would rather you didn't leave.

Take it as a compliment because I meant it as such.

Basically you aren't into the neo geo. You're into PSO and lurking forums like this one. You're just looking for an active forum to wheeze the juice off of.

Nope, I own an NGPC, and I have all intentions of becoming a die-hard Neo fan with the help of BonusKun... I played Metal Slug 2 once and that started my Neo addiction...

I'm 16 with a criminal record, I'm trying to get a job but it isn't that easy...

Also, I was supposed to get a Neo for Christmas, but that didn't work out either...

So please next time you wanna make a judgment about somebody find out what the fuck you're talking about before getting critical of that person...

Thanks <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" /> <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" /> <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" />

Whatever. I don't care about your personal situation. I judge you as I've seen you. Just another person who ended up at the neo geo forums without a love for the neo.

You wanna know why I think so many people are leaving for MVS?

So they won't be dependent on the people here for cheap games.

For the most part, to get good (REALTIVLY) prices on neo games, you almost have to come here. You're not going to find them at any online store, and eBay is a price jackers dream.

MVS carts are cheap and plentiful everywhere relative to the distrobution of home carts. If I had an MVS (soon) I would not be bonded to one good source for my games. MDGamesales, eBay, Cosmico, everyone sells cheap MVS carts. No hassle. No fuss. It's pure, unadulterated NEO.

I've just gotten into MVS in the past few months. I can afford it on the budget I have while I'm in school. AES is too expensive for me right now, especially when you can find the inexpensive equivalent on MVS.

I have alot of apologising to do to some of the guys here (if they are still members).

When i first joined i was MVS through and through and i have done some great deals with some guys on this forums and i used to slag off all AES owners for being rich, deranged basically fanboys (all they wanted was the aes cart for artwork :) )

But since i bought an AES system last month i cant help myself so far i have won 6 carts from ebay, bought 2 from chris 77 and 4 from shino and now i can see the alure from AES carts.

I didn't post in the fav console thread because i believe the member who started it is full of shit.

For eg/ Kernow did this weeks weekly check but an other member did the same thread the next day - why?????? his post count is nearly 3000 and its been 3 months.

HE isnt Neo and its unforunate but wolf is correct all the way the boards are getting cluttered up with guys who talk a good game but its never Neo

Hey shawn/bobak maybe you should do an online questionaire about the Neo's history and games before you let people join - then you wont get all this other shit :) :) :)

With this many people getting into MVS maybe its worth keeping my Metal Slug, in a few years i might get 2k for a Metal Slug - non matching numbers with laminated marquee

That would be sweet

I'm selling off my AES carts little by little to go for MVS. AES hits the pocketbook, and it hits it very hard. Plus I want to spend the extra cash I'll be saving on DBZ stuff :D

Moving from AES to MVS is not leave the scene. Actually is quite an intelligent decision. ;) Anyway, I prefer AES; they have a special magic...
But I've also noticed some people really leaving it. I suppose that it is for the money, because many Neo fans are getting married these years (most of us are 22-30 years old) and their wives don't want to spend all that money in a game...

It's true that there are more and more non-Neo fans coming to this site, that includes me, but I originally just browsed as a guest and didn't sign-up until I got my AES system. Now a good portion of my monthy video game budget is dedicated to the Neo-Geo and NGPC until I get all the games that I want for my collection. I'm a non-Neo fan in that I don't want every single cart available, I just want the most creamy games for the Neo. And no, that doesn't mean just the games that are over $300, hell I don't even want a Slug or Slug 2 all that much. It wasn't until a few months ago that I first played MOTW, LB 2, Slug anything, KoF, Blazing Star, etc.

These boards boards my be cluttered but since I've joined the group I've become more edjucated on what the Neo-Geo scene what it's all about. The difference between AES & MVS, Cabs, Superguns, games I've never experienced before, and the great life span and history the system has. The greatest thing about the system is it's fans and I'm thankful to (through these forums) meet and communicate with other people who enjoy gamin just as much as I do. Unfortunately, peoples views on video games change with time.

Those who are die-hard Neo-Geo loyalists one minute only to leave the scene or move on to MVS the next does not shock me. It's just depends on where the place video games in the order of their life. Those that love the Neo go MVS, those that have grown tiresome and can't relate with someone else (in life, not online) what Neo is all about then of course they'll eventually sell all they got. JMHO.

1) Many newbies have no idea what is NEO GEO.
They don't know that Neo scene is a money sucking hobby. They think collecting Neo game is just like collecting SNES or Genesis game. That's why you always see people crying for Neo AES console and games this week and sell them two months later.

2) It's good to see more Neo gamers move from AES to MVS. You get more titles (many games didn't port to AES platform), better price (ex: Metal Slug), and so forth and so on.

You always see so many fuckin retards here bragging about the "rare" titles they have in hand and how they can make $$ by selling those carts now or next couple years...

To me, it's stupid. Neo AES cart isn't an asset or investment; it's just a hobby.

Spending lots money in AES is just simple stupid because it is just a FUCKIN VIDEO GAME!

3) Neo is the King of 16-bit console (or you can say 24-bit), period.

4) Never say you will keep your AES forever. This is a bullshit.

"I'll never sell/trade my Neo....I'll keep it forever"

STFU, you never know what will happen to you (job, health, family incident...etc) so don't make comment like that.
