....... just plain gotten stale? I play and play and play and play but i just am not getting anything out of it like i did when i first played the series. Even when I play againts my really good friends i still don't really get anything out of it. Truthfully i hate to say this but the main problem for me is the graphics. Everyone is so quick to jump all over Capcom about the Alpha sprites but look at boring old lame ass Ryu, he has the same outfit since part one(minus the shoes) yet he has 5 different sprites and they all look different.

Sure when I look at thing's like Igniz's cape and Zero's cape i say "DAMN! Now that looks nice" however that wears off after playing for a little bit. I just feel that KOF deserves more. Last month if you would have asked me about KOF's graphics i would have said "hell yeah, stay with the MVS" but since about a few weeks ago it just became straight up stale.

When it comes to gameplay it feels a tad bit stale to me but i still like the gameplay. If the gameplay changed it probably wouldn't have that good ol' KOF feeling anymore. I can deal with the same old KOF gameplay cuz its good but the same old graphics i just don't think i can handle it.

In another topic I had mentioned Eolith moving up to the NAOMI hardware and they mentioned it being too expensive. Truthfully i think its a big crock of you know what. If KOF looked like CvS or even the High Resolution GG series then their would be no stopping KOF, it would take its place up top with the other 2d games like the series deserves to. If KOF had NAOMI graphics i guarantee you would see a huge surge of new KOF fans.

Anyway, i feel KOF should take a step into the future like the rest of the other fighters. Till then i'll be playing SF3 Third Strike on my dreamcast......i'm ghost.....

In a way, I can see where you are coming from. But at the same time, with the new art style 2001 feels so fresh to me. Also the team specific win qoutes, the intros. I dunno 2001 really really did it for me. It made up for 2000, and I know everyone is going to disagree, but to me it topped 98. The new wire moves, K9999, DAMN THIS GAME IS GOOD. Hats off to Eolith!

See? All is good, but I do see where you are coming from too. A newer engine would be nice. But I still love the neo!

But the thing is how long will 2001 be like a breath of fresh air? I hope it keeps my attention a long time, I truly do.

I was drawn into KoF by it's great storyline, the Orochi plot I mean. Then I really didn't get into it till KoF'98. It had it all. The gameplay was top tier. When 99 rolled along, I was into it, except the whole striker system. Kof2000 was the reason I bought the Neo*Geo. I know the game was broking, just like Marvel vs Capcom 2. But I love broken games. now When I got 2k1 last month, I was into it. I didn't mind the character art that much and the music I can stand to some degree. Heck I bought the 2k1 OST before I had the game. Now, when I had got the game and showed it to my friends, there like, "Dude, I swear this is another Marvel vs Capcom 2." A very combo friendly game indeed. I could careless about the graphics anymore. It's the fun I have playing KoF. That's what I love about it. I don't think it's stale at all. I never will, KoF will remain one of my favorite fighters forever. Even if I play 98 more than any of the other KoF's.

Kof can be very fun if you have a lot of friends who knows how to play it very well and you can keep challenging them for hours,non-stop.Playing kof 2001 with my budies is very fun and exciting. The last fun we had was with KOF 98.Kof 2001 feels new especially the super cancelling of moves into DMs and that CvS style ratio system.Yeah, this game owns cvS 1 and 2.The bosses are quite challenging as they have unlimited DMs.O.zero is a walk in the park but igniz is one tough bastard. There is an easy way to beat igniz but when you fight him without that easy method, you are screwed.
Kof 2001 is tons of fun and is very deep too.KOF is the only 2d fighting game series that never gets stale even after countless rehash after rehash.KOF is THE 2d fighting game perfection in terms of gameplay.

I try to get into kof but I can't. I love garou. Kof is a good game, but I get board of it pretty quick. If I had someone to play against it would probly be more fun.

I still love the KOF series. And 2002 seems to be great with some (make that many) really cool new characters.

But it would indeed be really cool if they moved up to naomi or maybe just the crystal system. Just thinking of a high res KOF with SF3 animation make me get an hard-on. =)

Someday, they will either move up to a new system or get wiped out, forever.

I love kof2k1, but its not like it was in the mid 90s. I clearly remember getting kof95 (for psx, yuck!) and liking the graphics. Then 95-97 the graphics were improving with every year, I couldn't wait to see the next installment so I could see the new animations and art. With 99-2001 the only improvements are the art style (which is usually not an overall improvement.) I dont know if that makes sense....

I guess what Im trying to say is the game was a hell of a lot cooler in the mid 90s when you'd look forward to the next year because of the graphical improvements.

what everyone has to understand is all fighter games are like this. They catch your eye and then u play and play and play and it seems like nothing gets new. You know all the combos specials everything. Thats why they come out with a new KOF every year. To get ppl intersted in it all over again. Not to bring up some fighting games I know I will get yelled at for but look at Mortal Kombat, The first one was awsome and so was the second. But after a while you get tired of seeing same fatalities and specials. And also to name a few the Tekken series, and DOA series.

Also in another perspective KOF series has got to be one of the best fighters I've played. Im glad to see them adding new things to the mix. And no one should dis the strikers, excellent adition. And all though u can get your combos up there dont ay its like any capcom vs marvel or any fighting game like that. The combos in those games are just silly. KOF in that fact any KOF game is quote "a breath of fresh air" to any other fighting game. Gameplay is unmatched. In my opinion.

Man, I just sat down with a coupel of friends and played KoF2k1. KoF2k1 lasted about a half hour. We then took the 2k1 cart out and played 98. We played 98 for a good 3 1/2 hours. Man, it was so great! I haven't had so much fun with KoF for a long time. So it's still going STRONG with me. How can it be stale if I can't get enough of it.

I don't care if they change the gameplay much, just get some goddamn new hardware and improve the graphics!!! I could suggest the Xbox, because the 64MB of memory and 4:1 real world texture compression could make for some mind-blowing animation, not to mention the hardrive streaming and 9.0GB of stuff on a DVD. Also I would not mind playing the game in 5.1 surround sound as well...

But hell, even the Naiomi board would be a step up. C'mon Eolith, KOF deserves better.
