I just wanted to know the reasons some people not all have hate towards street fighter. Its a great fighter and its been around forever. I know most of you say they never change ryu or some of the other characters, this is true but capcom goes by a great motto if it aint broke dont fix it. But let me know why some of you guys dislike street fighter or capcom. ( especialy the ones who love to mispell there name calling them crapcom).

People try to pretend they don't like something that is mainstream or liked by the "mass". Me I blame punk rock. Just because a lot of people like something doesn't mean it's bad.

Personally i love many Capcom games. Here's my list
Super Street Fighter II and all SFII games
SF III 3rd Strike (and the rest)
Street Fighter Alpha series
Rival Schools and Project Justice
Darkstalkers 3 (Vampire Chronicles baby!)
Capcom vs. SNK series
Megaman
Resident Evil

all kinds of shit.

I know u all like some Capcom games. Don't lie now!

Right on dude I love the neo geo But Capcom kicks just as much ass! I just got my cps-2 with SSF2T yesterday and I was estatic. My ony complaint is the lack of ideas like where is SF4 And why no stand alone sequals to X-men and marvel Super heros. but still lets face it in a lot of ways Capcom set the standard for arcade fighting games.

I love the Street Fighter games, Im a massive fan of the series, I even brought the shitey Street fighter the movie on LD!..

My fave SF games I have to be:
1. SSF2X - 3DO version ( Amazing Music )
2. SF2 world warrior ( top backgrounds )
3. SFA2
4. SF3 3rd strike

There are some Street fighter related games I didn't really like for example

1. Marvel VS Capcom - found a bit dull
2. Street fighter alpha 3 - boring backgrounds and didn't like the new fighting modes

3. All the 3D versions of Street fighter are fucking terrible.

In general I don't like the street fighters because the games aren't well balanced.
Capcom always try to create a game with a good looking but don't care to well balanced the characters! (of course all the characters of a game are not always well balanced but in CAPCOM games this is easy to see!)
As a result many matches are poor. Of course not all of them but if one of the player select the wrong player to play then it's not fun.
At the beginning my favorite fighting game was super street fighter 2 and SSF2turbo... after I discovered what was the KOF, then the street fighter legend was no more!
All the games are now just fun to play when 2 people that absolutely don't know any fighting games or 2 people that know the game and who to select to really play a good game.
A simple example. In street fighter games, depending on what character you play, you can perform a special move, miss your opponent and just after you are not vulnerable to your oppenent's attack! On the contrary you can perform an other one.(the dragon punch of ken or ryu).
for my part in fighting games, if you perform a special move and if you miss the opponent then you did a mistake and the opponent should have the opportunity to hit you!
About the CAPCOM vs SNK... it's really awful!
Too many mistake were done! The game is absolutely not well balanced! The SNK spirit is not here! The game play is totally a capcom's game play! there's nothing (apart the graphics of the SNK 's characters) that would make someone imagine it can be a SNK game! I know this is capcom that did it but I'm dealing with CAPCOM VS SNK right?? Not (CAPCOM) vs (SNK SPRITES with CAPCOM SPIRIT).
there are many more things to say, to explain in details an to justify... but it would be really relly long and tiresome!

2D fighters are my life, and to get a good fix, SNK has the best fighters IMHO. The reason I believe this is because every series that SNK has produced has been very different from the others. AOF plays completely different from FF, KOF is different from MOTW, SS is worlds appart from LB, etc etc. They each have a very unique style of gameplay that is all their own. When my friends and I get together for some neo gaming and switch say from a KOF game to a SS game, it take a minuite to get used to the very different style of gameplay. Where with most capcom games, I find myself deciding if I want to play a game with chain combos or normal 2-in-ones but using the same basic design so there is not much to get used to. Capcom games seem to used tweeked styles of the street figher engine. This is not a bad thing, but gets old after awhile. I love the Vampire series (night warriors!!!) and SF3 Third Strike rocked, but they just dont sit with me as long as a good SNK fighter does. As far as adventure games go and other types of games, Capcom has some of the best and inovative ones out there. Hell, I'd say about 30% of my game collection is capcom. just my 2 cents.

I'm a bigger fan of Capcom's than SNK's but both make outstanding games. In terms of actual gameplay and vs play, Capcom Rock. But in terms of storyline and actual development of characters SNK rule. To each his own I guess :)

It seems to me that the only people who really 'hate' Capcom OR SNK are obsessive fanboys of the other company. I'm a big Capcom and Street Fighter fan whos currently really getting into SNK and KOF in particular, and I love it all. :) Long may they both continue (in one form or another).

Capcom's Devil May Cry is excellent, and Street Fighter 2 was my first foray into 2D fighting, but I find I haven't touched Darkstalkers 3 and SF Alpha 3 in ages while SNK games just have that special charm that keeps pulling me back to play them again and again and again...

It makes people feel "elite" when they hate on Capcom. To go against the grain and hate on capcom and the masses is considered "cool" to them. They are plain dumbasses. And to whoever said Capcom doesn't balance their games well they should look at SNK games. Basically at all KOF tournaments its the same people all the time, Kyo, Clark, Iori, Ralf, etc. Both games suffer from imbalance among characters. and neither does it worse than the other. The only damn company around here who cares to try and balance out the characters the best is SEGA AM2, everybody else doesn't try as hard.

Or.. indeed, maybe the problem comes simply from the game and its game play that's absolutely awful lol

Capcom fighters just play differently to SNK ones, thats the bottom line. Its hard to put my finger on what exactly is different as the two companies have evolved their fighters almost beyond recognition, but the difference is there.

I was brought up with Capcom fighters, and i love them, but in the past couple of years i have got into SNK fighters too, and now i love both. I'm not sure that i've ever encountered hatred of one or other of the companies.

And i disagree on the opinion that SF games are unbalanced, supporting Spinmaster's idea. In theory any character can beat any other character, its just no-one wants to be someone as overtly weak-looking as, say, Bao or Cammy.

People using Iori and Kyo the most doesn't speak ill of SNK and Eolith's character balancing, it has to do with people using those characters because they're cool or old favorites even when they're not the best. For instance people in HK and Singapore still play Kyo and Iori a lot in 2k1 and IMO 2k1 is Kyo at some of his worst, he's slow as hell in that game, and Iori does Crap damage in this game as well.

It's a matter of people liking to play characters for their character's sake, not because of their strength in a game.

I don't think anyone could rightly say that Capcom balances out their games just as much as SNK... in most Capcom games "tierings" are much more important for competitive gameplay, because those characters are out and out better than the lower-tiered characters. The gap between top-tiers and mid/low tiers is much bigger than in SNK games where in General most characters can compete well against each other.

However other than '98 and '2001 I really don't like KOF very much because of broken/bad gameplay. I like KOF better than any other fighting game series just because of '98 and '01 being so good; however I coneced that the streetfighter series has more quality games in it.

I love Capcom! Megaman

I hate SF

explaniation: No matter how hard I try I can only get good against the comp. my wife even beats me! It has nothing to do with anything else.

I love Marvel vs. Capcom 2 though. I thought that it would be the same as SF when I went to the arcade. Hell no Bitch! Ibeat major ass! In college I was the only person that had a Import DC and I had MvC1 and practiced all the time and I got 2nd place at a MvC Tourny!

Why the world may never know!

I just always find it hard to belive when people say they hate
Capcom when they have done so much for the game industry. As far as SNK and Capcom goes I really can't say I like one over the other. They both bring different things to the table for me.
Nevertheless Street Fighter and all its versions are still my fav series with SamSho right behind.
BUT, I still like Samurai ShodownII better than most SF's(except 3rdstrike)

Oh, shut up. You wouldn't know a good game if it was shoved directly down your throat

One more thing, you speak as if SNK's fighters are well-balanced. Oh yeah, Clark and Ralf are sooooo balanced

Admit it, you're nothing more than an SNK fanboy.

Capcom games are well balanced, and about street fighter not haveing a better story than kof hey I will take great gameplay over a great background story anyday. Capcom looks out for the gamer, they know how competitive the tournaments are so they balance out the characters great IMHO. One thing kof needs to work on is there character design kyo and iori never age, isnt kyo still in school after what 8 years. You guys can keep your kof Ill keep my street fighter.

I love both CAPCOM and SNK. I love fighting games, period.

CAPCOM FIGHTERS I DIG:
Street Fighter (The whole F'n Series, but especially SSF2T, Zero 3 and 3)
Vampire Series
X-Men
Marvel Superheroes
and I'm still waiting for my copy of FINAL FIGHT REVENGE for my Saturn!!!

SNK FIGHTERS I DIG:

KOF
Fatal Fury
AODK
AOF
Savage Reign (Don't ask me why)
Sam Sho
Last Blade
World Heroes

Both companies produce great games, 'Nuff said!

I never denied liking Capcom. :) In fact, I'm a big fan of Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Some people tend to play along with the crowd, but I'm not such a person.

I don't have any hate for Capcom. DarkStalkers is a good series, but my favorites would be:

SFII (CE & Super)
SFIII(Three/2nd/3rd)
SFA 2 & 3
Final Fight
19XX series
Alien Vs. Predator
Warriors of Fate (Japanese version Tenchi wo Kurau 2 has better character names, in my opinion)
Countless other Capcom series...

Marvel vs. Capcom? While it is not bad, it is just not my type of game. MvC2 appeals to me even less (110 hit combos? As Terry would say, "C'mon! Get Serious!").

I ;ike Capcom more. There games are simply more fun to play to me. And on the balance subject, SNK games are worse. The bosses can clear house with anyone with NO trouble at all. In Capcom games the Shotokan students are too powerful.
