I feel a little akward about it but, KOF 2002 will be the first neo geo game that I have ever purchased at release.

You'd think that I would have had plenty of chances since 2000, but I just never did.

Kind of an exciting time....might be one of the last too <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

The first game I ever bought for the NEO GEO was Samurai Showdown 2 for the NGH. I remember going to Knight Video Games (local game store) and putting down $325.00 for it and just in awe by how clean and nice it looked. I played that game to the ground. Ahh..those were the days.

King Of Fighters 2001.
Technically speaking, it was preordered for me as part of my 21st birthday present (the rest of it consisted of a trip to Las Vegas).

Never have.

I just don't have the cash for KOF2002 which is annoying. I want it BAD!

Jesus, I wish these games were a little cheaper. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[Crying]" />

I generally don't...

I did preorder Metal Slug 2, Last Blade and FFRB2 for NeoCD from NCSX back in the day. ;) Do those count?

The first game I bought on release day was umm... SFII for the SNES... Or maybe it was Golden Axe for the SMS?

Chrono Cross. If I can recall, the game came out on Madonna's b-day (Aug. 16) I traded in a shitload of PSX, SNES, Genesis and a couple of peripherals plus a little bit of my friend's Funcoland store credit, so I didn't pay a dime for it. Several items I kick myself for trading for CC nowadays: Einhander and Rival Schools.

Thge First NGH I bought on release was World Hero's 2 jet. Then I bought Samurai Shodown 2 when it came out soon after ;)

Both from Game Dude. Both came preopened ;(

Guess they liked to preopen the games when they got them in, probably was played by a few employees before they mailed it out to me.

Too many..
It's become a monthly ritual.
I will buy 1 to 3 games per month.(depends)

There are just too many games coming out.
I'm pretty particular about what games I buy on release now.(to many crappy games)

First game was an Atari 2600 game.
Last game was Steel Battalion.
Before that GTA Vice City.

The first Neo game I snagged at release was Mark of the Wolves...

...let's see...the first GAME I snagged at release...I want to say Super Mario Bros. 2. Yeah, that sounds right. Mario 1, Zelda, I got them later than release. Mario 2 was at release, if I recall correctly. Mario 3 was next.

But if you want to count a game I practically got on preorder, the first game I ever really pushed to get at the VERY earliest...well, that's definitely Final Fantasy 3 US.

I was at the Babbage's the day before release. They had gotten the shipment, and they sold me one. I played until I had to go to sleep for school tomorrow (back when staying up all night was a foreign concept to me), then spent the whole day at school telling everyone about it, much to their excited interest, and drawing pictures and plans for what I was to do next in the game. I was a psychotic child.

For me, it was KoF 96 from Japan Video Games' mail order division. By the time I got into the Neo scene, no retail stores near me still dealt in home carts.

As far as Neo home carts go, mine was KOF '95. I remember playing '94 in the arcades and thinking that it was time to get a neo home system at last-there were finally neo games I simply HAD to own at home.

I managed to pick up a neo home system for 30 bucks from a friend who worked at Comp USA. The thing had been sitting in the back room, neglected forever. Only the console and a controller. No power supply, no video cables. I ordered a power supply from Die Hard, World Heroes and Sega Genesis cables for the video. The system worked like a charm. Then I was like 'Okay, time to order KOF '94'. From KOF '95 on I purchased every single NEO GEO release I wanted on the day of release. That encompasses every game in the Southtown universe of games-all KOFs, AOFs (which I had to go back and buy) and FFs. The games I've bought on release:

KOF '95, '96, '97, '98, '99', 2K, 2K1, 2K2 (forthcoming)
RBFF, RBS, RB2

Games I went back and bought after release:

KOF '94
FF, FF2, FFS, FF3
AOF, AOF2, AOF3
SS, SS2
