I am currently looking for "new" Neo Geo games I should buy (MVS only). I'm looking to get a feel for what people here think are great games worth buying.

Just so you know, this is what I already own:

Last Blade 1&2
Samurai Shodown 1-4
Metal Slug 1-3 (and X)
Garou
Fatal Fury Special
Fighter's History 1&2 (wish I could get rid of these!)
Real Bout 2
Mutation Nation (I'd rather be crucified, set on fire and devoured by vermin than have to play this game ever again)

I'm already planning on starting up a KOF collection, every year, but I'd like to know what people's opinions are on the various years so I know where to start for the best.

Please no KOF year bashing, positive posts only, please! I don't want to start flame wars here. I would like to know what is a really bad game though, so I know what to avoid.

Thanks!

Well, try Ninja Masters or Kizuna or Waku Waku 7. Shocktroopers is a good action game, if you're looking for something other than fighting.

All the KOFs are pretty good, just pick a year and go with it. Everyone seems to think 98 is the best, I don't know, doesn't really matter to me. I have been playing a lot of Neo Turf Masters this weekend with friends, that game is great. :)

For King of Fighters i would have to say 96 or 98. I just played Kizuna Encounter the other day and it's a really good game. Shock Troopers is one of my favorite games on the system :D .

KOF 98 is good for a great affordable game but KOF 2000 is my fave...
Also, Blazing Star is one of the MVS "must-haves" in my opinion, since it's one of those obscenely expensive games on AES.

Yeah! Mikace knows his shit...Waku Waku 7 is different enough to every other fighter on the Neo to be purchased even if you have them all. You can pick it up fairly cheap on MVS, too. I'd also reccomend Blazing Star and Shock Troopers if you want a good shooter besides Metal Slug.

I gotta thank you all for your opinions!

So far it looks like the list looks like this:

KOF '98 '97 '96
Ninja Masters
Kizuna Encounter
Waku Waku 7
Shock Troopers
Neo Turf Masters
Blazing Stars
Real Bout FF
Ninja Commandos
Wind Jammers
Twinkle Star Sprites
Top Hunter

I'm not really a golf fan, but with as many recommendations, I think I'll check it out at some point. Looks like I'll be starting KOF with '98 (I plan on getting 2K1 as well this week, along with 1 other game)

I'm going to write these suggestions down and purchase what I can, when I can.

I really enjoy fighting games, I'm just not very good at them. Shooters are great as well.

Legend of Success Joe - this is, without doubt, and I think everyone will agree, the best AES title money can buy.

Get it.

Get it now. :D

Ditto that sometimes my parents come downstairs and they have to peel my eyelids off of the TV screen with a spatula because I’ve been playing for 4 ½ days straight. It’s crazy silly fresh brotha!

Turf Masters is a great game, not just a great Golf game. I was also never into golf games, except maybe hot shots on the PS1. But, I love turf masters, it is just a perfect game of arcade golf. I kid you not, we played hours of that game this weekend, and a friend of mine can't get enough... :)

You NEED Blazing Star and Last Resort! Plus, for some REALLY old-style fun, try Ganryu! :D

Well I'd say Neo Turf Masters, Puzzle Bobble and ...Bang Bead (just kidding as this one is not really a must have but just a nice collection item...)

Looks like I am going to order KOF 2001 (NIB) and Shock Troopers (first one) from MD Game Sales.

I am going to make sure to keep the list of games everyone recommended and go from there. (minus Success Joe... come one guys, I read reviews! Evidently this game is worse than ASS!)

With all the recommendations, I should be able to find something new the next time I have some extra cash.

Thanks everyone!
