Want to see if anybody can help me. I ordered a Turbo Duo from playthegames.com in jan. It seemed to me it was in stock, but it never came so i cancled my order because they said it was not in stock. Cool, thought they cancled my order like they said they would. About 3 weeks ago they decided to charge my debit card for $230. I asked them about this and they said that the order was never cancled...I have the freekin emails. It seems that they still did not have the item in stock either and decided to charge anyway (It almost bounced a check). It has now been 3 weeks, no credit to my account. They also said that they changed credit card cariers "right after they credited my account" so they couldnt look it up on their files...fuck that! Took it to my bank and files a dispute and they said i MAY have the money next week. Has this ever happend to anybody else? If so what did you do about it?

The same thing happened to me with Buyrite.

Ordered something, nothing for a month, then found out they charged my card, when I mailed them about it, they said that it was out of stock, and they'd give me store credit, I was like oh hell no.

After that they never replied to any of my emails, I had to call my CC company and have them dispute the charge, I did get the money back though.

I would never order from Buyrite or Playthegames, cause it seems they both charge your card if they have the game in stock or not.

Playthegames has just as many horror stories as buyrite, they suck, their a little import store run by like 2 guys, who gets all their shit from gamechoice hk.

Playthegames has been exposed for its sleazy business practices many times in these forums and elsewhere. What you should have done is a bit of research before ordering, you would have found that out . . . with internet purchases, the phrase "caveat emptor" applies more than anywhere else!

I had a simular problem out of these rip offs! I preordered a game back when these people first opened in 2000. Best bet to do is call them and demand your money back. They won't answer emails and they act hateful as hell but I noticed they shut up will quick when you call them.

I hear all of ya'. I once waited 2 months to get a Godzilla game for the PC+Engine Duo from PlayTheGames.Com that was charged as an Express Delivery, and when I got the game it was scratched all to hell. Then there's a number of games they've been supossedly looking for for me since like 2000??? Still no word on my Bare Knuckles II (Megadrive) and no Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (PCE DUO /RiverCity Ransom) Paid them upfront for the shit too. Still trying to work things out. So all I can say is that when Play The Games was still "Advanced Imports" they were cool... now they'll usually fuck you on stuff but they do come through from time to time. I was going to inquire about NEO games from them when I stumbled upon Neo-Geo.Com and NeoStore, now I do most of my business here... I can't say I have a complaint with any of NeoStores' stuff.

Bottom line... Stay away from Play The Games.Com unless you simply must buy from them. It probably be worth your while to just find penpals from Japan and order shit that way or go the Ebay route.

Playthegames.com... they actually run their front end store from a mall near here (Harford Mall, Bel Air, Maryland) (they used to be across the street from the mall, and actually used to call themselves "play the games"... now that they are in the mall they run their store under the Import Paradise name. Store is still run by cock knocking ass lickering lying fucks. Some of the regular employees are pretty cool about shit though, ie. not the owners). They sell DVDs, CDs, Anime T-Shirts, wallscrolls and import video games. Of course, all of their wallscrolls, DVDs and CDs are fucking HK rip-offs, shirts probably are too. They jack the prices through the roof on EVERYTHING they sell. Hell, they still sell some crap ass import Saturn games for $60. The guys who run it are goat humping assholes who think they are "hooked up" when it comes to the video game market (not as bad as Dion). What they ARE hooked up with is HK Ass Pirates. All of their video games are the real thing though. 100% genuine. They USED to sell Dreamcast CD-Rs, but I think they got busted and don't do it anymore. This "review" is just for their brick and mortar store, I can't vouch for what they do online.

If anyone needs to see if they have something in stock, let me know (via PM or on a board) and I will have my brother stop by the store and check, as he works at the same mall.

These crooks used to sell Duo Dracula X CD-Rs , calling them "Chinese imports". I will NEVER buy from them.

If you want a Duo, you can buy a mint one, with box and manual, from Turbo zone Direct tzd.com . They still have games and accessories for the TG, all new. I got my new Duo from them for $200 with $8 shipping (priority mail). I've ordered from them many times in the past and they are courteous, cheap, and very efficient.
