This is one of the few Neo games I have not played. I understand that it's simplistic graphicly and play wise, but is it a good old-school-values ninja style platformer, and does it control well? Thanks!

I tried it and since then i want it, if the price is right. Not a mind blowing title, the graphics are ok but not very spectacular. Sound is standard as well. But the game play was fun, controls are simple and work well. Technically not an amazing title but the gameplay is solid, that is 8-bit style solid. Reminds me of shinobi on the genesis/megadrive but game is overall a bit less polished.

Ganryu is a good game that lacks originality. If you can find it cheap...get it. I paid $30 for the complete kit. I belive this game is better than some give it credit for. Still i would never pay $349-399 for the coversion...its not that good

Do not buy Ganryu looking to play Neo-Strider or some other incredible and flashy platform game. Buy and play Ganryu because you liked Ninja Gaiden on NES, because you have an appreciation for old school platform games and because you won't carry a 2002 attitude into a session with a '92 game.

Sounds like I'll like the game then ,

I think I'll pick it up on MVS though ,

Yeah,

I second that, I like the game a lot... sure it looks terrible, but it plays solid... I have beaten it many times now, and to tell you the truth, it doesn't get put in too much, but when it is in the Neo it gets played a lot.... It's worth it for a cheap price, good old school fun.

I bought a ganryu cart from the auction in the last post. It came with all extras and game worked great. As for the game itself I love it! I mean if you like old skool ninja Gaiden its totally work it. Plus its nice to have a side scroller in the geo instead of fighting games wich usually rule my MVS cab :) Overall great game I must say the Production team must not have been to in it. the credits only show a coule people?

It plays like a samurai-Bionic Commando (NES) game. I give it a 2/10.

You left out that its a 92 era game with 88 era graphics. Ganryu is pretty bad IMO, but was worth the $30 or so I paid for the MVS cart. Not worth bothering with as a home cart, and all around a pretty weak game.

Sounds to me like it has some real old-style values to it. Thats one of the things I love about the Neo: Old-school values are put in each game. Must be why I can't stop playing old titles for it (and new)!

It`s shit - in every aspect. A true shame that junk like this is allowed to carry the Neo Geo logo. If it came out for the NES in `86 fine. But in `99 for the Neo ...

Maybe it was a home work done by a part time student at Visco in one week. 2/10 from me as well. I would never touch it again - boring as hell, graphically laughable (except 2 bosses).
