Could an AES II ever happen?

I was one of those who was interested in the AES II design brought forth by !Arcade! some time ago. They did not produce it due to lack of interest, which was questionable by some, but the specs of the machine were pretty cool as a Supergun, MVS, and AES built in one machine. And at $399 for a brand new machine, seemed like a reasonable price. With SNK Neo Geo reviving the Neo under Playmore, is it any more likely that an AES II type machine as proposed by Arcade will ever be produced. Perhaps SNK Neo Geo could endore such a machine in low production runs, similar to the way new AES carts were handled. Any chance Arcade or anyone else will have the initiative and money to bring such a machine into the Neo scene. Any thoughts.

I hate to dash your hopes, but it has as much a chance of happening as me waking up tomorrow wearing a hat made of money.

Not to spoil your hopes or anything but the AES II that Arcade! was designing was nothing new. It was just a converted 2 slot MVS. Nothing new being manufactured!

Umm... Are you sure about that? I thought that was just a rumor, since it did kinda look like a 2-Slot... But it was never confirmed as far as I know. It is well within Arcade's means to manufacture custom PCBs, I mean they did it with the Phantom-1... Converting a 2-Slot MVS would require the mass hording of boards, which would probably take a lot more effort than just making custom PCBs...

Wasn't it going to have a custom BIOS as well?

Oh well, it's not happening, and it never will... SNK would never go for it.

Just get a Phantom-1. :)

If you really knew what you were doing you might be able to reverse engineer the Neo Geo MVS but it would be a lot easier to just convert a 2 slot and that was what Arcade! was going to do.
