Why bother with English Neo Carts? I mean, the Japanese ones are automatically translated depending on your system. Japanese carts are generally cheaper and usually look a lot nicer. Is an English insert really worth the extra dough?

It's all about the manual and the spine art.

I prefer the manual is written in a form of language that I can comprehend. Since English is my major language, English cart is my preferred copy unless there is no choice of preferences available.

Why bother with ignorant posters that think their taste is universal?

Why doesn`t Sony sell Japenese language PS2 stuff all over the world?

Why isn`t Japanese the world language?

Amen to that! I don't know why you ask about this, neon_sonic. Given the choice, many people would prefer the game to have an English insert (with the consistent spine art and readable "Engrish" text on the back) and English manual. Why do you even ask? <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

Theres more to the manual than just understanding how to play,
Reading the Neo engrish manual is a very good read.
Some of the manuals have comics and joke, which is usually sad, but quite amusing.

Dont you Jap owners ever wondered whats in the manual?

I collect both, no big deal

I honestly like looking at my English spines over the Japanese titles. I especially like the Dog Tag spines which might sound strange to some people. Moreover, some of the early Japanese titles are harder to find and therefore more expensive than their English counterparts.

As nice as coordinated spine art is, I rather enjoy "TEAM BATTLE ACTION GAME" or "KATANA BATTLE ACTION GAME" greeting me on the spines of my carts.

I also happen to enjoy my art "fullscreen" if you know what I mean.

Neo*Geo games stand outside that window tho. That was a bad comparasion considering almost every Neo game out there has a language setting that is determined by the system's territory settings.

What other console system out there does that as well?

We're stupid enough to pay several hundreds for 16 bit games, what's to stop us from less reasoning?

The ARTWORK of japanese Carts looks much better, but they aren´t Rare as the EUR/US-Carts are. That´s the only reason, why some people prefer them. I think noone needs a Manual for playin a fighting game...OR MAYBE i`M WRONG...
Another fact is, that most EUR/US-Carts are more worth than the JPN. But that´s it, the gameplay is the same...

Well there is really no drastic difference between Jap and US,

But since I could only buy english carts from my local video game store, it just was natural to collect english carts. The Huge price difference came much later, guess I am stuck in the hands of Price Jackers.
