I won an eBay auction for two MVS titles on May 19th. It took the seller, aslan11, 2 days to respond to my email. I payed him via PayPal.Com on May 21st. After a week or so I contacted him. He said that he's been busy and would ship that day or the next. That was on June 1st. Seven more days have past and still nothing. Tomorrow it will have been 17 days since he received payment. I have sent him two emails this week. One yesterday and one today. I have not heard from him yet he still has active auctions, and one of them was for the exact game that I paid for!

So is aslan11 just incredibly slow, forgetful or what? <IMG SRC="smilies/mad2.gif" border="0">

Yeah, I've heard about this. Autobotclown put up a big thread about aslan. Apparently, he likes to take his time, but does deliver. Personally, if you are a seller, it is your duty to DELIVER what you sold, and in a reasonable time. Not cause your busy, that's a valid excuse, but not for the length of time youve been waiting. He should take a break if he has too many things to do right now, rather than sell on eBay.

Agreed. At this point the best I'll be able to do is offer a neutral opinion should the games arrive within the next few days. It makes no sense that he's had time to set up more auctions yet does not have the time to send out the items that have been paid for in full without any sort of delay on the buyer's part.

As a seller, you have a responsibility to send out the goods in a timely manner. Anywhere from 2-5 days in most cases. Longer than that the seller should have a good reason, a damm good one for delaying the shipment.

Nothing is more frustating for a buyer than to pay for something and be forced to wait for a long period of time for the goods to be shipped. If the item is not available for delivery, than that information should be stated upfront. That way, the parties involved in the transaction now ahead of time what to expect.

I've never dealt with this guy aslan11 before but if he has time to maintain his current auctions and start new ones- then he certainly has enough time to ship something out!

Don't buy from him, because every cart he has sold me were bootlegs. Just ask Jeff K. because he did all my conversions.

I've done business with Aslan11 just enough to know that I'll never do it again...

Thanks for your input everyone. Sounds like this guy is not the one to go to when looking for MVS games. It is all quite odd, as he seems to have plenty of good feedback. Friends perhaps? Hmmmm... Plus he seemed to have a customer friendly web site. I guess it is all just a bunch of bunk.

Oh, he still has not responded to my emails. I still don't have the games. And when I do, what will I have? Bootlegs.... I sure hope not. I payed too much for the Neo Bomberman for it to end up being a bootleg.

Autobot,
Why do you think your NitD is a fake? There are no roms around for this game, and it uses the security chip... so the chance of it being bootleged at this stage is minimal. I think you may be queuing of the pseudo distorted sound the player makes when he jumps, that is normal, I played the game at SNKs booth and thought "man the speaker is blown on this cab" but nope, it really sounds like that... If it is not that, what is it? You can always open up the thing and look... it can be done with out damaging the sticker or cart in any way.

NitD is not a bootleg. The encrypted games cannot be bootlegged. Your NitD is cool, AutobotClown.

this is why i think it is fake.First of all a couple of times on the first boss he will not punch the little zombies out no matter what even if youre on the ground there for you wont be able to kill him because you need the zombies to do so.also there are two board in a mvs when you look at the bottom.well this is a newer release.the board on the top looks new while the board underneath has more of the crude green white looking color that the older fatal furys carts have because of wear and oxcidation or some shit like that i think.like i said im not sure but i wouldnt be surprized if it was.and i hope it isnt

The two games arrived late this afternoon. Seems he did not send them until June 6.

Take a look at the Bomber Man label:

badbm.jpg

It is clear to me that the cart has been opened and that this is not an original cart label. If fact, it looks like there are remnents of another label under that label. Check out the spelling?!?! Hey, and no serial number. I smell a rat.

The game is in English. Both games required a cleaning before use. Obviously the games were not tested. Oh, and the laminated card is a fake for sure. I'll not buy from him again. I sent a scan of the label to him for comment too.

I have a ton of those fake labels in my collection... they do not mean the cart is fake. Sometimes English operators will change the labels cause

A) the game is Japanese and can not be easily identified.

B) may be of a different region with serial numbers that are illegal for use in the US.

C) may have been damaged.

The only real way to tell if a cart is fake is to open the cart up and look at the chips inside. If you see any wires running about, EPROMs with magic windows, or non-SNK boards... then it is a fake. For the record, most Neo Bomberman carts are fake, it was produced in limited quantities, and was a very popular and sought after game... most are fake.

I am sorry to hear all of you have had such a bad time with Aslan, I have recieved everything I paid for, and never once got a bootleg (although most carts were very, very, very dirty... they all cleaned up well though). I have delt with him for over a year and bought 10 or so carts in that time... maybe I was lucky, but he always did good by me.

Finally, I have the template here for you if you want to print out a new label, I have worked it to look pretty close to the real thing, actually I think it is identical. Print it out on Avery sticker sheets and cut to fit the neo cart, all is good in the world <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and opened it and found the lower board has one chip with a "magic window." The other board is dated 1994. There are no wires though.

I'll have to take a look at your replacement labels. Thanks.

Oh, this is interesting...

Aslan11 removed the pics for the Neo Bomberman from his current auctions. The pics had a different spelling of the label. Here is the pic. I saved a copy a few days ago:

i-1.jpg

Here are a few quotes from him:

"I sell the english version of bomberman. I have not answered your emails because my laptop got a virus and melted down I had to take in in for repair and am haveing to answer you on a borrowed computer."

"I receieve most of my carts with the original side sticker and serial numbers and many with the original headers. That is the way I have been getting my Bombermans. Most people don't complain because they are so hard to get and more than double the price with original english side stickers. I do not like disapointing my customers though, let me know if I can do something to rectify the situation."

Here we go...

1) Why did he take so long to ship?
2) Why did he remove the pic?
3) How come he has so many copies to sell if they are so hard to get?

That's not absolutely true. There are MVS games available that are legit and have a few EPROMS. There are legit copies of Garou with 1 black wire, and EPROMS. The game, however, is complete - unlike the bootleg beta. The game also has the security chip and official SNK boards.

Right I should have been more clear... it is hard to tell people what to look for in a post, but it is basicly intuition. Yes, there were SNK products that shipped with EPROMs, wires do not make since to me, there should be no reason for SNK to short out a connection on the board, but if you have a MOTW that you purchased from SNK with one, than I will believe you. The idea here is if you see EPROMs with with poor soldiering (like a hand job) or wires going from those chips to other parts of the board... then the game is probably fake. If you see non-SNK boards with solid black roms with no text on them, the game is fake, but a damn good fake (I wouldn't mind getting one of these, I had a few actually). What it comes down to is if the game is up to the quality you paid for it. If you only have one EPROM, and it is on the bottom board, then I would not worry. It could be offical from SNK or it could be a repair job to a board that was having problems. My advise to you is to take a piece of electrical tape and cover the window on the EPROM. What this will do is insure that no UV light ever gets its way in and destroys data on the chip. EPROM chips can be just as reliable as non-EP but they need to be taken care of. From what you have described I do not think your game is fake, a fake game would require that EPROM to be wired (and you would see more than one).

These MOTW are interesting. I haven't taken it apart in a while, but it was absolutely professionally done. One tiny black wire, and some EPROMs. If it wasn't MOTW I might have thought it was fake. Since the code was the full release... Also, I've seen quite a few of these, and all Japanese with the mint green case. Others have reported having them on this forum.

I've purchased from him a lot as well and he definitely takes him time. I am waiting for a Blazing Star cart for over 30 days now.

On another note, he has always sent the games eventually.

I have mixed feelings about dealing with him.

I won the samurai showdown4 auction on 14th may.

Sent him the money via paypal straight away.

I've emailed him twice both with no response.

I know I'm in UK, but it doesn't take that long to chuck a cart in a padded envelope and stick it in the post.

Definately wont buy from him again. Don't know what I'll do yet if I dont get my cart. It's a bit far to go for a persuasive visit.

Cheers

I bought one large batch of carts from him about a year ago. Back then his shipping time was better, but to be honest some of the carts I got from him were beat up pretty bad, and most had cheesy reprinted fake English labels on them. None were boots, but my Top Hunter had a wire capacitor repair inside. Overall, I wouldn't deal with him again because of the bad stories of late, and because most if not all of his carts are bare asian/relabelled ones, not originals. And virtually none of them will come with original MVS artwork.

Cosmicco is the best source for the money, and I've never had a boot from them yet. The newer carts come with full artwork, and are almost all in great shape.
