Which Metal Slug game is your favorite?

This is for everyone.
As the topic states, which Metal Slug game do you love the most? Is it 1, 2, X, or 3?

For me, it's 3 for sure!

Well, Metal 3 is for sure the most complete and awesome of the series.

But, you have to be fair and look at each game at the time it was released.

1,2, and 3 are awesome and comparing them will need us to nowhere.

The only thing for sure is that X will always be the lowest one because it is a remix of 2.

If I had to pick one regardless of time, I'll pick 3 of course.

I am on the MS3 band wagon as well. It is long, is incredible to look at and (my favorite aspect), pays homage to the previous Slug games in little ways (the "You're Mincemeat!" guy, the way the final stage of Slug 1 leads into the alien liftoff and lots more).

A VERY close second for me is MSX. Kanjifreak had mentioned that X was his lowest since it was a remix of MS2. While I can see his point, I prefer to think of it this way. MSX is MS2 done correctly. Thus, I place MSX as my #2 Slug and MS2 in 4th.

The original, while lower on the list, is still a WONDERFUL game. To be honest, I have probably played the first Slug more than all the others combined. A great, great game that even by today's standards is VERY good (as proven by the fact that it still does well when on location). It's easier and doesn't have as much in the animation department, but incomparison to what else is out there, even today, it is still a top notch title.

I agree 100% with RyoGeo (again, this is getting tiresome!!). He hit the nail on the head. MS3 is an incredible game, brimming with style, variety in vehicles and level paths, beautiful artwork in the backgrounds and sprites, incredible music (for a CARTRIDGE its unbelievable!). But MSX is a VERY close second, a brilliant game that is all that MS2 should have been, and much more. The first Metal Slug game is a classic in its own right, adhering to a military theme more that the others, which have lots of weird aliens, creatures, and zombies. MS2 is at the bottom, but still a great game by itself. Let's all hope that there is a MS4 someday, the series is just too good to end with MS3 . . .

Metal Slug 3 and X are about equal for me, then 1, and finally 2.

The order for me is:

Metal Slug 3 - The most complete version
Metal Slug X - The fixed "2" version
Metal Slug - The original jaw dropping game
Metal Slug 2 - Never played so it is last by default.

Its a toss-up between 3 and X. I feel MSX is more even in terms of quality whereas MS3 goes up and down. When I think of MSX, it is basically a perfect game. They eliminated all the problems found in MS2 and added some of the weapons from MS3 to make it more fun.

MS3 High's:
1) Blows away the background graphics of the other games. Particularly noteworthy are the underwater areas.

2) Lots of fun new slug vehicles like the elephant, submarine, helicopter, etc.

3) Multiple paths that enhance replay value.

MS3 Low's:
1) Level 5 is way too long. They should have made this into two levels.

2) Some of the bosses, particularly in levels 2 and 4, are somewhat disappointing.

The slowdown in 2 is just horrible. MSX is 2 done the way it should be, with NO slowdown. Frankly, the original 2 is a worthless game in my opinion (unless you can't track down a cart of X). X killed it.

MS1 does have sort of a purer feel to it, since it doesn't have the mummies and other creatures.

I won't really rank the MS series in any order, since each MS title has its good points (but 2 is basically superseded by X).

i thinks it's a tie between Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3. both of them are the hardest games ever.

Yep! Metal Slug three is a true work of art! Beautiful in every way: Music, animation, control, sound FX, you name it!

I agree with RyoGeo, MSX is MS2 done right. My order of preference?
MS3
MS
MSX
MS2

I put MS3 first for many of the same reasons other people did. Due to many similar features between MS3 and MSX, though, I prefer the original since it is MS in its pure form, and if I want the mindbending features I can play MS3. There is nothing wrong with MSX, but if I had to choose only two to own, I would choose MS3 and MS.

I have yet to obtain a MS3 cart. I haven't played 2 either, but since I own MS and MSX, I'll say MSX, then MS, then MS2.

I DONT METAL SLUG THREE VERY WELL , I ONLY PLAYED IT FOR A SECOND ON A SCABY OLD ARCADE UNIT , IT FELT GREAT , BUT I WANTED TO WAIT TILL I COULD PLAY IT PROPERLY WITH MY FRIEND 'HES GETTING IT SOON',SO HAVING SAID ALL THAT I'D SAY THAT METAL SLUG 2 IS MY FAV.....

Here are my fav. from best to least:
MS1--too many great memories
MS3--newest and the best
MSX--great game
MS2--least because of all the slowdowns

I've yet to play MS3! WHAAAAaaaaaa....

I would say MS2 is my favorite if it weren't for that slowdown, so I would say MSX, and then MS2, and finally MS1. I sure wish I could check MS3 out, however.

Well I haven't been able to MS3 so my favourite would have to be MS2 followed by MSX
