Why does nobody talk about games like Voltage Fighter Gowcaiser, and Ninja Masters

There are a lot of good games out there that are not getting any discussion time. It seems like the games that get discussed the most are CvS, SS, MOTW, KOF, and LB. Lets have some discussions and strategies about these other games in the forum

Ok I'll bite on this somewhat. Voltage Fighter Gowkaiser. It's an ok game but the engine is seriously weak for me. Character designs are not the best imho but I can live with em. Ninja Masters. I would actually term this as a good fighter. I've seen better but the combo system does offer a bit of flair and presents some real intersting things to fool around with. That's my 2 cents..

Voltage Fighter is a good looking game but that is where the good points on the game end. The gameplay isn't very good at all, there are so many games that outdo it in this field. Another game that I find to be absolutely horrid is Galaxy Fight, I just can't stand that game.... Oh well, those are my opinions....

I have VFG on NGCD and NM on NGM and NGCD

Ninja masters is by far the best ADK Fighting game out there. Being able to fight with or without weapons is a plus. the characters are well designed as well.

VFG. Well I never spent to much time on it. The movements was not as fluid and the fighting engine as stated was not as entertaining. The Character designs were well thought out though. The other nice feature was the ability to learn other characters moves once you beat them. But all in all i would rank it low on the fighters for the neo. above Final fight but below World heros 2 jet IMO

Ninja master would be in the top 10 Right below Samurai Shodown 2.

GalaxyFight is hella fun, its just hard to get good at.

VFGowcaiser is interesting.
Its engine is kinda weak, & its easy to learn.
But its kooky, & I like it ok.
But many games of its own time far outstrip it.
Much less newer games.

Ninja Masters is absolutly fantastic.
Its a real skill based games, with amazing contol.
It just doesnt have all the impressive show off routines
that newer combo systems use as style.
Its more oldschool & simplistic in its approach.
Its an excellent example of a great games of the mid 90's.
It just visually outclassed by newer fighters.

Obviously, I am a huge NM fan, and I agree with what Nick said, it is more old school and simplistic as far as gameplay goes, but there is real depth there. I just happen to also love the artistic style of the game.

VFG, ugh, a gameplay nightmare, plus the sprites are so jagged and strangely shaped that its hard to track and gauge their movements.

I think that part of why these games are not discussed more is because:

A) They are both older titles that had no sequels

B) Neither was very popular when compared to MOTW, KOF, SS or LB

C) NM is one of the 'rediculous' home carts ($1000 and up) not to mention Gowcaiser aint too cheap either (Well at least not the US ver) Both can be had cheaply on MVS, but I think the lack of availability on home cart hurts the games popularity overall (That is until we all have the !Arcade! converter...)
I know MOTW is really expensive now too, but it is much newer, has REALL, REALLY good graphics/animation and is considered my many to be the best the Neo has to offer... much like MS3.

I must say, however that as soon as I get my converter, NM is in my top 5 games to get.

I think more people would talk about them if they were easily obtainable. I've only seen like 2 Ninja Masters for sale this year and they were at an outrageous price.

I have Ninja Masters too (home cart) and I'd rate it the 3rd best Neo fighter after Last Blade 2 and Art of Fighting 3.

The background animations are gorgeous, fight with or w/o weapons, combos (very hard to to pull off and master). The only thing sucks abou this game is lack of cool music and I wish the characters would be a bit larger, if these criterias are met, it'd be not only the best Neo fighter, but best Neo-Geo game, period.

Ninja Masters and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer are two Neo Geo fighters which are very underrated. i have seen Ninja Masters in the arcade but i've never seen Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer. btw, has anyone remembered Ragnagard?

I have Galaxy Fight on Saturn, and it's definitely a strange feeling fighting game. Seems almost like a platformer @ times.

C'mon. Voltage Fighter can't be that bad. Any game Technos makes is gold in my eyes. Whoever was the brains behind such underated classics as River City Ransom and Dodge Ball can't make a bad game.

NM and VGF are OK at best. There are considered because these games are rare. If they were not rare, then it will probably be passed as another fighting game.

Well, I like Ninja Master's, although I agree with vincewy's points about its weaknesses. VFG I haven't played much, so can't say. Galaxy Fight is utter garbage, one of the worst fighting games I've ever played (plays like your character is stuck in molasses), its ugly as shit in the backgrounds and the sprites blow too.

What I don't understand is why people don't talk more about Kizuna Encounter, that is one FINE FIGHTING GAME!!! I tried it on my new 2-slot MVS cab recently, and it was AWESOME!!!

I'd venture to say that Kizuna Encounter is better than all the others mentioned above, save for maybe Ninja Master's.

But Galaxy Fight . . . ugh, its horrible. I'm almost sorry I bought the damn game, although I guess I didn't pay much at the time . . . <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">

Galaxy Fight is one of the most difficult
games on Neo to master.
Its not like other fighters, but its bar none the fastest moving/responding fighter on neo.

Only fighter I ever played that whipped around quicker was in street fighter's turbo series.

Its not like a standard fighter, think of it as a fighter with platformer roots instead of traditional.

Now think of Sonic the hedgehog. If you just walk him, hes SLOW as hell & lame, but there is ways of making him haul ass.
Same here, you can whip around the screen fast as hell in GalaxyFight.
It's not meant to be played like a drag your ass & stand there fighter.
Turteling will bore you to death, as its no good at close quarters. This game is meant to attack attack attack.
Theres a reason you can move infinitly in a direction, cause you would run out of room very fast.

Have you ever played Voltage Fighter? We're talking stilted (deader than stiff)
animation, bad controls (there's nothing wrong with struggling with the joystick), and horrible characters. What's good about it: the backgrounds and music. Some of the music is quite good, but this game ranks up
there with that turd of a game, Fight Fever. Gamers beware, collectors enjoy! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/tickled.gif" border="0">

Ragnagard is Saurus' attempt to bring rendered graphics to Neo-Geo, the main flaw is the characters are very slow, as many of the moves are very hard to pull off, but the game has the best music for any Neo-Geo games, just listen to it from NeoRage.

Another reason people don't talk about this game is that not man people have these games.

I have Ninja Masters and Ragnagard on Neo CD. Ninja Masters is AWESOME! That game never ceases to amaze me. The character design is very different, and unique. Ninja Masters definitely gets a 10 out of 10 in my book. Its one smokin fighter.

Ragnagard is also a pretty cool game. Definitely underrated. That Behemoth guy on there is just sweet lookin.. Both are very good fighters.

Ragnagard also has some pretty good music. (Dunno who would agree with me <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> but I like it.)

Although I haven't played Galaxy Fight it doesn't look that great. But then again Galaxy Fight might be like Ragnagard... maybe a little odd looking, but once you get into it you see that its a pretty cool fighter...

"Gerken" the fighting game Nut who wishes that the Dreamcast would become the Neo Geo CD of today so that his wallet doesn't burn everytime he gets a game. (I can hope can't I?) <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

I am going to defend my Gowcaizer.
I love that fuckin game, the characters are pretty bad actually, nothing truly special though.
The game has a different feel, which alot of people compare its engine to a really good fighter,(which is a easy way to brush off the engine)just keep in mind its a different game.
Course you know that.
The problem would have to be moves, the arsenal is limited, characters like Kyosuke for example look bad ass, but there moves.. Hrmm. Although I like useing Kyosuke.
Hell I like the damn game.
