Just to let everyone know who has no read the recent updates at SpekSnk, Elioth Contacted them, and asked them to remove the KOF 2K1 dumped roms. This is Great news for the Neo since this company is not just going let Emu Fuck up their business, which also means that The Metal Slug 4 roms may not or will not be posted also, it's about time, Elioth means business, and for Neo to survive Companies got to Stay on top of their game.
Sorry for all you emu Gamers but the TRUE-read True Neo fans on this Board Paid good Money to Get our Kof2k1 and had to wait patiently for months, So Thanks to Elioth for keeping the Shit TIGHT.

Holla Back

Elioth rules, we all should sent them addresses that actually have KoF 2k1 roms on there sites. Serves them right!

It doesn't make much difference if speksnk has the ROMs on their site or not, the fact is that now they've been made public anyone who wants them will be able to get them.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't part of the blame here lay with Eolith? Surely they knew that the encryption on MVS boards had been broken before putting KOF 2K1 into production? Couldn't they have used a different type of encryption? I'm not supporting the people that dumped the ROM I just think that maybe Eolith could have done a little bit more to help themselves.

WTF, Elioth? Next thing you know, ETeeth will hunt down the rom dumpers and spit on them.

And yes, it's nice to see Eolith doing something, but they definitely could have learned from past history and stopped this before it started.

Really great news for all the people who loves the Neo!
Way to go Brezza! :)
Now as ScoobyDoo said, it's time to develope a new encryption chip for the MVS and Home Catrige games. Fuck all that dumpers Brezza!

Nah, wouldn't work.

It would be broken as well. There's no such thing as a perfect protection. Would be a waste of time and money.

Hey EW, you're right, I wonder wether Eolith actually consider to do something against those NGF rubber stampers... hmm...

Well, I don't think so.
I'm studying a little of data encryption this year at University and it's quite easy and cheap to make a "little&stupid" as we call it encryption circuit with your own home-made algorythm with a little ROM (16K-32K) and some AND, OR and NOT chips. All that Brezza should do is change their algorythm with each new game they release.

ocsmod, this is an eons-old discussion. Believe me.

As long as there are program protections, there have been ppl who broke them. As a freelance Linux security engineer, I've seen countless encryption schemes with much, much more complicated algorithms than your simple xor gate come and go. Quite quickly in most cases. Some of these schemes cost millions, but were broken in a few weeks, the same goes for program protections; show me just one single software protection scheme which hasn't been broken/reengineered yet - there's none, except for the RSA scheme of course, based on the Diffie/Hellman concept of asymmetric public key cryptography. However, I won't count on it much longer, in the wake of recent efforts in quantum computing...

The whole thing could be compared to a bank robber who wants to open a safe. Give him any time and means he'd need, and he would open the safe one day, not matter how many nifty locks have been put on it.

You're totally right Takumaji.
With my previous post I didn't mean to say "look how much do I know about encryption". We all know that all can be hacked. What I wanted to mean is that it is really cheap to make a new encryption chip. The cost isn't a excuse and I think that Eolith should change the old chip to protect their new games now they know that it isn't secure. The dumpers will break the protection again, but that would take them months (or even one or two years), and as it is very easy and cheap to make a new one I think that the hackers eventually will get tired.

Guys, that fiendish SpeakSnk site is at it again, just out of curiosity I checked it out and there the rom link was right at the first page, I clicked it and there I was put in a queue - along with 800 people.
Doesn't seam like Eolith pulled this one off after all. :(

best idea I heard is to link the games to a dongle-like accessory or the joystick. therefore, to play agmae, you must be using the official joystick...

yeah, anything can be hacked I guess. Best thing is to make games only for the hyper (at least the hyper might get emulated then...)
