Do you consider NeoGeo as a symbol of the HARCORE gamers and do you consider yourself as an HARDCORE gamers :D

sounds like a stupid question to me, with someone trying to get his own rocks off.

i think it's safe to say neo collecting is a bit off from the norm.

i think it's also safe to say...everyone already has come to this conclusion.

all this "HARDCORE" jazz is just a bunch of people whose lives are so shallow and trite, they need classification in this genre.

If u consider your self to be a hardcore gamer your just an obsessed gamer, the title has to be given by another! <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

As a classification, the term "HARDCORE" doesn't have a definition, nor can the term be self-proclaimed, as stated above. It certainly carries no weight in terms of pride, as anyone who can even attempt to classify oneself as hardcore, cannot logically be proud of this title. But how to define it? I own 6 systems, but only games between them. Is this considered hardcore or do I need to own twice as much as I do to be considered thus? I play what I like, and if the games I wish to play are only available on a particular platform, I generally would purchase that platform. Neo owners are proud bunch, simply because the high cost of gaming on that platform scares most videogame enthusiasts away. I don't consider Neo owners harcore gamers, simply gamers who justify the cost of gaming irrelevant to their enjoyment of games. What I do know from other Neo Geo owners is that those are videogame enthusiasts who don't buy games for aesthetic reasons, rather they know and appreciate good game design when they see it. How else can one justify the price of games for a (technically) obsolete system? I know I do. I don't consider Neo Geo owners hardcore, I consider them good judges of quality videogames.

Hardcore is an overused expression if you ask me. By hardcore do you mean that I bash my opponents over the head with game consoles, carts, controllers etc. while playing games?

The only person I know who calls himself a 'Hardcore Gamer' is really the gaming equivilent of a Trainspotter. A 'Gamespotter' :D

Buys loads of games, doesn't even play them all and takes photos of his collection. Nothing wrong with that...just a mis-idetification of Hardcore, as Argentina94 pointed out

I'm just a gamer who especially enjoys playing fighting games on the Neo Geo. In my highly criticizable opinion, the Neo Geo has the best fighting games in the world.

So, just a "gamer."

In my gamin experiences I believe that there are three different types of people when it comes to gamin.

One: The non-gamer = These are the type of person who knows that games are out there. They either know someone who plays, acknowledges the existence of video games, or utterly hates video games altogether. At any rate they do not play at all or have tried a game or games briefly.

Two: The casual-gamer = These are people who will own a system, possibly multiple systems. They see gamin purely as a form of enjoyment/relaxation/or venting of frustration. He/she will spend some time playing but will not acknowledge that they spend alot of time or money in the hobby. This is the most common type of gamer IMO.

Three: The "hardcore-gamer" = My favorite people (my peeps). These are the kind of human beings that either play games for their artistic value/collect for say-so value/enjoys gamin like a motorhead enjoys a Shelby GT 500/etc. IMO it is easy to make the distinction between the three but can only be determined if you know the person's gamin routine. Such as owning a mound of games and either sell them for profit or simply collect - this is a hardcore gamer. A person could own one game and one system, but if they can say more than "I beat that game or this game" - if they can articulate if the music was stellar or shitty - if the story sucked them in or just plain sucked - if the character designs are smooth as hell or just made them retch. Little descriptions like these lets me know that the person gets more than the simple things from gamin. That they are - IMO - a hardcore gamer.

This is how a perceive people in any light.

Hell, I own over 500++ games, and I am not even gonna bother counting systems. But I can tell you this. I don't know if I want to called hardcore. Don't get me wrong, I love my games. Play'em all the time. And I don't just mean one. I still have atari all nighters, and I'm talkin 2600. But it's not the end all be all of my life. I'm in college, I work. I have other ambitions in life than being a "hardcore" gamer. But if you mean I'm "hardcore" because I love to play and will probably be playing the rest of my life. Well, I guess that's me.

I'm a cross between "casual" and "hardcore". I like to think of myself as a casual gamer who has been sucked into the hardcore realm of NEO GEO!

I'm Hardcore as hell, I'll tell you right off the bat, no shame. Actually i'm more of a Hardcore fighting game fan than anything. I download and watch combo movies, match movies, read special move frame data, practice in practice mode for hours(especially VF). I also will get my brother and friends to repeat cheap moves on me until i learn to stop them(Paul's deathfist). I'm good with both a joystick and controller and I understand and know how to play just about every fighter to date. I play everything from Marvel vs Capcom to King of fighters to Virtua Fighter to Tekken. I play it all.
