I think the more signatures we get the better on this one. I'm sure more than one gamer out there hates these payments!

Thanks for looking!

Do you realise how ridiculous this petition is?

Basically, it is like petitioning Ford Motor Company to give away automobiles. IGN started charging subscription fees because advertising revenue was not enough. This petition does nothing except show online petitions for the mockery that they are. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

Why? Because they want to stay in business?

Look at how much Shawn spends every month on this BBS alone. Compare that to how much bandwidth they use. They need a little $$$ to stay afloat.

Ad revenue doesn't cut it, and 20.00 a year is peanuts, especially if you are used to buying NEO games.

and by the way, "epitome"

I don't think IGN is "evil", but I don't like the way that their site is nothing if you don't pay the fee.

I'd much rather give my $20 a year to Gamespot.

Also, I think the majority of people here (myself included) have no idea what it costs to run these boards. Care to enlighten us?

The setup fee was $490, the annually recurring fee is $6200. We are allocated 50GB of bandwidth per month, but for every 10 GB we go over, there is a $20 fee. People download an average of 4.5 GB per day. That averages to 140 GB per month. Cost of hosting NG.com averages to $700 per month & $8,400 per year.

FYI, NeoStore.com is on a totally different server with a separate hosting fee.

That petition should instead be for them to pay the readers to visit their site :p It would've been worth a subscription during the last generation of consoles (right around the early N64 era), but since the launch of the new systems their content is lacking, and they've adopted a 'Fuck you' attitiude towards their readers. Even if they were still a free site, its not worth visiting.

I personally don't give a rat's hairy ass about IGN so it's all the same to me.

"Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"

If you don't like their subscription services, just suck it up and go somewhere else. It's not like they'll actually stop charging when they accumulated 'x' amount of signitures. Only because the amount of paying subscribers still outweigh 'x'

Fuck IGN, yesterdays news. Anyway you can get the same stuff anywhere else just about. The only thing exclusive to that site is their views on the games.

Try this...
