1) As far as I know Sega did indeed release a VGA adapter for the Dreamcast but they were extremely low in production number and you're likely to overpay if you find one. Try finding one of the numerous knock-offs.

2) T-Minus 2 hours and counting until too_short lets another "Not Neo related" fly.

If you are talking about the VGA adapter then the answer is:

Yes; ebay; around $75 (I'm psychic :p )

Finally, wrong forum

Sega did make a few vga adapters for the DC, they weren't really any better than your average box, and a hell of a lot more pricey at $50 new for less features. It's your call to track one down, but it's nothing more than a collector's curiosity.

You definately want to get the official Sega VGA box, I have had two 3rd party VGA boxes for my DC, both of them decided to die after a short time.

check out this artical from <a href="http://atarilabs.com/meat/2001/0120_XRGB2.shtml" target="_blank">GamesX</a>. It explains VGA stuff.

The DC VGA box is expensive, but the output is beautiful.

If you're looking at 3rd party boxes, make sure it's Dreamcast specific. The DC uses a PowerVR chipset which outputs 640x480 using the DC box, whereas a lot of third party 'VGA' boxes just convert a composite or S-Video signal to VGA, which looks like shit by comparison.

Your right, I scream and shout about Neo boots and roms, but I owned some Dreamcast ones myself. I bought them through eBay thinking they were the real deal (or so I was informed). I have no excuses it makes me a hipocrite. :( I have removed link and am hanging head in shame. frown

Actually, I bought a vga cord off of sega's site when they were offering them, and whatever minor quality differences existed I couldn't discern compared to my performance vga box. And thanks to the passthrough on that I don't have to futz around with swapping cables to get my xrgb and pc going.

Even though this thread is out of place,

I own an official DC VGA box and a 3rd party Performance VGA Adaptor. The offical one has no vga pass-thru but does have gold plated s-vid/rca terminals and higher monitor compatibilty than my 3rd party box. You can also output audio via the mini plug and/or the rca terminal in either display mode (vga or tv). Very solid built.
