As some of you know I took possession of my first Neo Geo AES yesterday. I have always wanted/lusted after one and envy many of your collections here. I got the Super English Neo hooked up via s-video and spent the next several hours in video game nirvana. I was in total awe of some of the best damn 2D sprite animations I've ever seen. I played a lot of Metal Slug 4 and some Metal Slug 3 and before I was to retire for the night I decided to pop in Sonic Wings 2 for a quick look. An hour later and some 500,000 points or so I was still playing. I love that A-10 and the bombs it drops, SW2 is a great shooter for certain.

Quick question? What's the best way to clean the contacts on the system and games, rubbing alcohol and Q-tips or is there a better way?

Thats what I do also.

For a really tough cleaning job, I'd recommend using a superfine grit (400+) nail file. You know, those pink ones you find at the drugstores? They are great for odd jobs and hobby work. But be very easy on the contacts though.

I don't use Q-tips because the leave lint.

Instead, buy a few cheapie $.50 soft toothbrushes from WAL MART, and use them them to clean the cartridges and system.

Never thought of using a soft tooth brush. Thanks for the excellent tip :)

I know what you mean, when I got my copy of Magical Drop 3 I was an hour late to work because I decided to have a "quick game" when I woke up. wink

Congrats.
It's always cool to see someone getting into the Neo for the first time. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Enjoy.

I personally use low grade sandpaper. You just have to be careful not to get too corse of grain and not to put too much elbow grease into it. I also use it on my face and the bottom of my feet. Ummmm, cheeseburgers...

ATTN!!! do not listen to this morn. he does not know what he is talking about, I know this for a fact. I am him.

I generally use electronics cleaner and Q-tips, however for a tough job I use electronics cleaner and a Scotch-Brite scrubbing sponge. As a matter of fact I use scotch-brite scrubbing sponges for light sanding work instead of light sand paper, just to give you an idea of how well this stuff works.

Kleenex Viva paper towels (high cotton content) with Dirtex(tm) sprayed on them. Then ball up the PT and slide it back and forth between the contacts on all sides. This may leave a bit of PT on the edge of the boards, but simply blow it out with some compressed air (carefully - keep the can upright at all times)

This Kicks Ass, and you'll have the cleanest contacts around, for years, and years to come.
