Just a harmless question, curious what most prefer: playing neo on a cab or home system? im just talking about playing the games im not talkign about collecting, or the feel of a snap lock case with insert, just straight up which do you slightly prefer for playing. i know lots of yo uhave both so i have just been curious to get feedback, i have had several home systems but not an mvs cab yet. discuss

To me the Neo will always be 1 on a cab, and 2 on a big red cab.

For these reasons I have no desire to get a home system or a candy cab. To me since that beautiful red beast is financially obtainable, that's what I'll go for. Nothing beats the original.

Didn't the Neo come out in Japan first, So wouldn't that make the candy the original cab and not the big red MVS one?

Anyways, I like cabs better.
If you don't like sitting/standing at a cab, you can use external joysticks/pads and play them from afar like a console.

Only problem is a cab isn't as portable..unless you buy one of those mini cabs that weigh like as much as a child.

True but to me I've always hated how all non dedicated cabs are put into one generic looking type of cab. No personality. Oh well, I more meant the original with reference to the cab, not specifically my preference.

The arcade is he real taste but the lack of training mode is a bad point (the only one for me).

I know you said you already have a home system, so you have your reasons. I think it depends on why you play the Neo. Is it for memories of the old arcade, or just the chance to play the great games, with the extra features. For me its memories of the 'ol days first, and just having good games second, thus I chose the cab rather than the home system. Although I would love to be able to just sit down on a couch and play or even be able to pause a game sometimes. Thats a real bummer with a cab. Once you start, your commited. Don't even think of starting something on the stove.
Plus the neo cab opens up and you can put your weed in it. buttrock

Why people always associates AES to collecting only or have nice inserts & cases ?

The feel is in the game! Now if you tell me why I prefer the AES I'd say this right away :

No cabinet provides you such a cool option to hook up your system to a receiver for a cooler sound.

No cabinet gives you the same confort as a sofa front of your TV.

The screen size of TV's are usually bigger than cabinets ones.

That's just me. wink

If you really want to hook up your cab to a reciever, all you have to do is get a 1/8" adapter to a dual male RCA cable, run it from your headphone jack to your reciever, and your set. No modification. As for the couch it has its drawbacks: when a friend beats you at a game, its much easier to slug 'em on a cab. (those controllers have too long of reach.) wink

I would get a cab, but I don't have space for one. So, I have to stick with the home cart console. But, If I get any of them, it would be a cab.

For me its all about the cab. The home system doesn't even stack up.

I love them both the same. I enjoy the Cab for the stable joystick, and enjoy the home system for the luxury of sitting on my lazy ass. Even though I don't own one, through what I said above, I would assume that a candy cab is the way to go.

Well both have advantages. The home carts look nice in their snap lock cases and the art and manuals are cool but mvs games come much cheaper after time. But I still prefer the home carts.

I got my MVS 2 Slot for 100 dollars, and my friend got a used DOUBLE DRAGON cab for 50. What do YOU think is the better deal?

You get the same great games for a better price. Plus NOTHING beats the feeling of standing in front of a real machine.

I think the cab is better overall. sitting back on your couch playing neo doesn't compare to standing in front of a monolithic red beast! Assuming your cab doesn't have a wacky button configuration, it beats the hell out of the homesystems sticks. The monitor offers a clearer picture than the aes system (granted I've never seen an aes with the s vid mod). And as was mentioned before, you can hide herb inside the cab. Also, you don't have to switch carts to play a different game, assuming you have a multi slot board. No versus mode means you can't switch characters if your on a win streak though, my main problem with the cab. no training mode kinda sucks, but you can beat up player 2 with nobody on the controls. Also, a cabinet is pretty much stuck where it is.

I thought I heard something about a BIOS switch awhile ago that would make the MVS carts act like the AES (with training and vs. and all). What's the deal with these? Easy to install? Worth it? I wanna get an MVS cab soon (as in like 2 years at the rate I can save money.... crying ) but I just love training and vs. features...

well I have a neo home unit and have mvs carts running on a phantom1. I have a bios chip in my home unit and I can switch the mvs carts to home mode which alows vs screens and options, training and such.

Hmmm, sounds like a good setup...considering I'll never be able to afford AES carts...I'm pretty sure an AES system will be cheaper than an MVS cab anyway. But I always thought the sticks for the AES system looked a little crappy. How are they?
