Like I mentioned in another post, Game Dude (in North Hollywood, CA) sucks total ASS!

Not due to their stock on hand (although that sucked too), but just take a look at their prices

<img src="http://home.dc.rr.com/seismicconcepts/images/pricelist.jpg" alt=" - " />

Come on, do you really think they will get any of the key games at these "buy" prices?

The only 3 neo games they had in stock were:

• Fatal Fury Special JPN AES (possibly worth $25)
• Baseball Stars 2 JPN AES (bare cart only)
• Crossed Swords 1 Neo CD

It was a good laugh. I wasted 3+ hours driving from Palm Desert to Hollywood for this joke-ass store.

I got my Metal slug 4 from them. When I was there, it was the only neo geo game they had in the store.

LOL - anybody here got a Metal Slug 1 to sell them for 150 bucks? If so I'll give you a cool 200 for it with no problem ....

I've been a Game Dude customer for over ten years, and have pretty much been happy with their service and products.

The price list isn't gospel, you pretty much call and get a quote. The stickers are easy to remove as well.

Years ago their Neo Geo stock was much better than it was now. In fact it was one of the only places where I could mail order in Neo games ten years ago. I purchased games like Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown II from them brand new.

With the onset of the Internet, there are now better sources for used and new Neo Games, like the Neo Store, eBay, etc.

As someone who's been in that store on numerous occasions, I can tell you the their stock on Neo Stuff is extremely liquid. It comes and goes at alarming speed. I've gone and seen one game on one day, then seen dozens on another. The quality of the games is all over the place (since they buy them used).

The sad thing is there are plenty of saps out there still selling them their games at those unbelievably low prices. Sonofx51 and I joked about staking out in front of the store and buying those games off of the people going to sell them:

[Person walks towards store. There's another person standing in the shadows by a large, windowless van]
Shady Bobak: Hey.
Naive Customer: Who... me?
Shady Bobak: Yeah, whatchoo got?
Naive Customer: What?
Shady Bobak: Whatchoo got there?
Naive Customer: Oh, you mean this game? Oh, I'm just planning to sell it to GameDude in order to finance my new X-Box.
Shady Bobak: You don't wanna to sell it to them.
Naive Customer: I don't?
Shady Bobak: Naw.
Naive Customer: Well, then what? I need the money.
Shady Bobak: Hmm. Let me see what it is.
Naive Customer: See?
Shady Bobak: Oh, a Neo Geo game, huh?
Naive Customer: Yeah, I know. It's a dead system -I don't know anyone who has one. That's why I'm selling it here -they're the only people I know who'd buy one.
Shady Bobak: Well, let me see... I might be interested in buying it off you.
Naive Customer: Really?
Shady Bobak: Yeah, I've been kinda interested in getting started into the Neo Geo shit. I got a system the other day.
Naive Customer: Well golly gee, mister, you better know that there's no games anywhere for it. I only found this by accident in an EGM ad years ago.
Shady Bobak: Yeah, maybe you're right. But I think I'll give it a small whirl and see what I think.
Naive Customer: So you'll buy it off of me?
Shady Bobak: Yeah. Let's see, I got the GameDude price guide right here... Hmm. Metal slug... Metal slug...
Naive Customer: Wow! They'll give me $150 for it?! Awesome, that's only $50 less than I bought it for!
Shady Bobak: You're right, chief. That's a good price. I dunno, though. I really am interested in the game... I'll tell you what. If I pay you 175 cash, would you consider parting with it? I promise I'll take good care of it. I got the cash right here:
Naive Customer: Wow! $175??? Sold! Thanks Mister!
Shady Bobak: Here kid, have my pager number. Next time you're thinking of unloading some Neo merchandise, just give me a buzz. I'll hook you up.
Naive Customer: Oh yeah, you bet. Thanks again!
Shady Bobak: Not problem, kid. Have a nice day.

You know it is strange, when I first saw the neo-geo.com price list, I thought that the formatting of this very list looked exactly to that of the Gamedude list on their website.

I thought at first one sight stole the prices from another! I've done 2 orders through Gamedude from 1993 through 1998 and have been somewhat happy with the results. I mean It was the only way for me to get NEO games in the first place until I got de-ignorantized by this site.

I have found AOF 3 US, LB 1 US, MS 2 US, SamSho 4 US in there at varying times.

But recently, like in the last year, they have tried deliberately to price their buy prices specifically so people will NOT sell them Neo games. They just don't want to deal in them any more.

I even talked to one guy there that said they just weren't going to sell them any more.

Sounds like Starland games to me. I live in VA, and I have been to both the Centreville VA and Annandale VA locations. Just to see what they took in for trade, I offered them my AOF3 US in NM condition cart. They were going to offer me $125 for it. I kindly declined the offer. They too have a poor selection of Neo Geo stuffs most of the time.

one time when I was selling my n64 they offered me 15 for it while they sold it for 75 or so. and another customer was interested in buying it from me. They gamedude people got all pissy and were like " If you undermine us you will never be allowed on the premises again". So my dad took the deal somewhere else and I got 40 for the system instead of the measley 15 they were offering. I could hang out there all day and cut deals for games. Infact I think we should have a gathering right outside of gamedude. What do you say bobak?

Seems too good to be true. I think those are the prices they'll give you for the games, if you choose to sell your games to them.

I used to buy from Game Dude everyday since I lived 2 blocks from them. I knew all of the employes back in 94-97, they would hold whatever game I wanted.

A guy that used to work there his name was Leo, he got in a KOF 94-97 and he bought all of them off of the guy and then called me to tell me that he'd sell it to me for less than half of the GD price.

I've only been there 6 times since 97, so the only people I still know are Matt and Steve.

we should have a california gathering where we hang outside of gamedude for a few hours and buy whatever the customers have. I just need to get more money together. After all I could do with a few more snes systems, ps2 games, and various otehr stuff

Of course they do.

They buy them off customers at that price & probably sell them online for their REAL value....

Damn, that's not right. I used to hang out at that gameshop in valencia and give better deals to the customers. I got a super nintendo with ninja turtles 4 for only 20 dollars. The guys working there didn't mind either. The other guy even asked if it was okay. Infact when I got street fighter alpha for the saturn they even gave me a cd case to put it in.

I dunno, the prices don't really seem that bad to me. I mean, I wouldn't sell any of my stuff to them for those prices, but they are normal markup for used games. Typically, you sell a used game for three times as much as you buy it. This goes for PS2, Xbox, SNES, and even the Neo Geo. It's just that when Billy is trading in his old GTA3, the price difference is only about 10 bucks or so and not $300.

All places that buy used games do that. They only give you maybe a fourth of what it's worth. Then, they sell for the real value, and make tons of profit.

I used to sell my NG carts to GameDude back in the early, early 90s (when they were the ONLY company that I knew of that would re-buy NG carts)

They sure got lots of mine back in the day & I have purchased stuff from them in the past (all via mail/phone order since I was in Michigan)

I wish I had never visited their place of business in person. Totally shattered my image of gaming history :)

The place sucked MAJOR ass. I could find more games at a garage sale.

and what's with this shit "We are the BIGGEST game store in the universe"?

Bullshit. My game store in Michigan was almost the same size.

Their prices are terrible. They do NOT keep up with the market whatsoever. Come-fucking-on.....offer at LEAST $500 for a Metal Slug AES. Just look at Kizuna (the rarest game of all), at least give the pour sap a G note for it.....

Secondly, their buy-to-sell % is whack. The place I worked at (just before coming out west) was FAR more reasonable. We, at most doubled the price. (I would pay you $20 for GTA: Vice City & resell it for $37.99)

They will buy a game for $5 & resell it for $45. That's ridiculous; not that it's illegal, but (at least) don't advertise your pathetic buy-prices. Your insulting the customer.

I sometimes buy from there...it's close by, and I haven't experienced any problems. Prices usually don't trouble me...unless I'm in some monetary setback...which I will be after getting SvC, SS0, and MS5...hmmm.

Dude gamedude can give 2 shiznitz for their neo games. When they stopped it, that included there updated of the list. Also you would be REALLy surprised at the idiots that go there. People sell there games for:

1. CRACK (its North Hollywood)
2. Fast Cash for rent or whatever. (mabe a date)
3. JUST PLANE STUPID.

Ive got alot of stuff from there (all my King of Fighters USA version recently) so I got nothing against them. If anyone is dumb enough to sale a Metal Slug 1, I'll be there to get it BOOOOYY! Like I have been getting my Neo geos. Oh and from what I remember, if the date on the sheets says a certain date its because they only added one title to the list, not because they updated the prices.

it is insultung when you get money problems and you gotta go there for a quick sale. I figured if there was any immidate need for money that was a desire and not a need that I'd just be better without it if I was unable to purchase it at the time.
