It has come to my attention that I have had many people coming into chat and flooding the channel with lewd comments, making threats and disrupting the channel.

The following people are now currently banned from chat until I decide otherwise. I don't enjoy doing this but I will not have the chatroom be used as your personal warring grounds with Shawn, GA or anyone else you have a problem with.

I have talked with several others IRCops on the server and for now I have Klined Tonk and RaGus's accounts from chat & seeing as AoL is a much bigger fish to fry, I have set an Auto-kick script in the channel for anyone using AoL. I apologize in advance for anyone who uses AoL but, This ban will also affect you as well.

Blame the people responsible for this but I cannot tolerate this anymore. If you have any questions, Please leave me a private message or email me with any problems you might have.

Good call Bonus, though I'm sure others may disagree (like they have any say). I'm suprised it took this long to implement the act. My tolerance level is well below many others.

Better to ban the few trying to ruin it for everyone, than to let them have their way.

Glad you found a solution to the problem Bonuskun. AOL is also banned from the forums as well, for new registrations that is.

Thank goodies I stopped using AOL 3 months ago. But in AOL, aren't only the last 2 numbers of a specific IP dynamic?

For example 45.34.34.56 is the first login, 45.34.69.76 is the Ip next time. And so forth. Can't you just ban the last two numbers of the IP so other AOL users can't suffer? As in IP ban 45.34.*.* and only the people with an IP that starts like that will be banned and the other AOL users will be spared.

I really wish this didnt have to come to this but after talking to Bonuskun for several hours about a solution to the problem I see no other way perhaps in the future these bans can be lifted and everyone can get along? This isnt a perfect world we live in but I think if we all tried we ccould all resolve the issues we have but then again maybe I am asking to much? I am very sorry to the other AOL members of this board. :(

Good decision, Bonuskun. I know it must be difficult to deal with constant trolls and spammers, and its a shame that a few seem to ruin it for the majority. As for AOL, its a lousy pathetic service anyway, so whoever is on it should just switch to a real ISP and not that fake filtered crap. I'm so sick of all the stupid AOL ads and discs everywhere, I'd love to see the whole service go down the toilet. Not that it will, with like 30 million suckers subscribed, but you can always hope . . . :)

Are "old" AOL accounts safe permenantly Shawn?

Also, isnt banning newbies using AOL going to exclude a fair proportion of new accounts?

as much as I hate AOL, I wonder if a better solution exists, perhaps de-voicing the unregistered users, if that was possible. It only takes a moment to register your name...

Well I have a cable modem now but I also belong to AOL. But I guess my IP address is from my cable modem provider and this won’t affect me then I suppose. I mean, I’m here and posting so I should be okay right?

Existing accounts under AOL will not be affected.

Yahoo and Hotmail domains were also banned, but due to the daily complaints received by anxious new registrants all free mail restrictions have been lifted, except for AOL. It is common practice for large boards to ban AOL, since it is the most widely abused service.

It's not. The picture's from an 80s anime series called Dirty Pair. I plan on checking it out sometime in March.

I suppose with AOL banned, I guess this means we'll be getting fewer members (I bet the AOL users who wanted to join this forum defected to ON.com).

your just plain assholes, you kill the chat for AOL people(like myself) and forum because of three people, I see it rather being pathetic, I'm sorry for saying that, but others AOL people might agree...Sad that you people are annoyed by three people and have to shut the world out.

I apologize if this is a problem for you but like I stated before this has become too much of a problem and the majority of abuse stemmed from those 3 people mentioned above.

They are all AoL users and it commonly known anyone on AoL can usually avoid a ban unless the entire service is banned. I have seen logs of flooding, trolling, mass spam and crude insults at people who don't need them. I also caught RaGuS creating a channel on my server called #GamersAbyss_is_a_Pussy.

Like I said before I don't have the time or patience for anyone's personal war and if it means that I have to kill a few people off my server because of trolls, so be it.

My suggestion, Get a real ISP and there will not be any problem. AoL gives a lot of people the ability to not be responsible for their actions on the net and thus a lot of major forums and chat servers have even banned AoL and Free Isp's because of the amount of hackers, trolls, & spammers that use them.
