In two cases I'm using emulator for Neo:

1. Playing the game I already have cause sometimes I'm to lazzy to install my equipment.

2. When I want to purchase a new cart and when I read review I try the game on emulator if I can't play it at arcade.

In your opinion, is that a sin ? I remind you that I'm against emu and I hope not to start polemics with this topic.

Thanks

You know what i have never ever pplayed a emu game in my life and never will,
but as far as i see it live and let live. as long as you are prepared to buy the games as well thats sweet but me myself if i had the game for free i dont think i bother but as i dont play emu games i pay for them,

Everyone should pay for there games though in reality.

I dunno, I know some electrical systems last longer than others, but the (depressing) fact is the more an electrical component is used (cpu chip, for example) the less life it has.

All things will die and all things will be broken... that is the law of the samurai! (and the law of electonics :) )

If you still go out and buy the games you like I think its cool .

Its the idiots that say " why buy the game when I can play a crapy version of it for free " ?

Those people must be shot <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />

IMO, its all up to the player. I switched from playing neogeo only on emulator to AES cause I like having the real thing. I like playing the real product and I like supporting SNK. I agree with everyone, you should not screw a company you love, I know a lot of SNK fans who just emulate and claim to be HUGE SNK supporters.

My point is that real SNK fans will support the company, but carts that Ill never afford, like ninja masters and metal slug 1, Ill emulate that stuff, theres no way I could ever afford it, but when it comes to KOF2k1 Ill buy that right away. This may be a bad thing to do, but its ok in my opinion.

This is an extremely controversial topic on this board, Im a musician and when napster was out it was the same type of situation. My view point on napster was that you should only use it to get really rare music you couldnt find anywhere else.

Sin or not?

I say Emu is Sin, and you cant help it even justified by owning the game.

Let say you go download Kof 2000 Rom before buying the game. and for the sake of the argument you dont like it enough to pay $200 for it. Will you keep playing that Kof 2000 rom on emu?
Well lets be honest, You will.

Another example, you decide to buy Kof 2000 after playing to rom. Great,

But whats going to stop you from downloading all the other Neo roms, and play it on emu? The question is when does it end.

or are you going to be disciplined enough to only download the games you own. which I doubt , its human nature once you start playing with Emu.

I dont have a problem with older games that Developers are not making any more money of it. But they are just Ripping everything before release,

They already ripped kof 2001, and it will not help sales of Kof 2001, no wonder Shawn has not gotten many preorder of Kof 2001

Yeah, I'm on the same track as you. I started it all by playing emu, then I realize how pathetic it is to rombeg for a new game (that time it was KOF2000), so I decided to buy the Home System and keep supporting SNK for as long as I could (goodbye, CAPCOM...)

point#3 should I play the game on Mame to make sure I really want the cart.

I say Hell Yes.

Neo cart sales do benifit from this, fish arse tight wankers are never going to buy any hardware (or software) anyway, genuine arcade freaks need a sample before the purchase.

Just my opinion.

I`d say that the destruction of Emulators worldwide, wouldn`t enhance Neo sales in a drastic manner. I´d say that most of the emu people are of the emu everything -kind. Not the kind of peoples who buy AES carts...
