As usual, I was browsing the Neo-Geo Forums, when I came across a post by Spike Spiegel (Wanted Section: "Would Kill Another Man For A SNAP LOCK CASE"). In it he stated, if I'm correct, that an unwanted sticky substance caused by a sticker in his case, caused by a sticker, was clinging to the game and driving him nuts.
Let me tell you, a similar situation happened to me, and I too was about to go bonkers. I'd just bought a near-mint/mint copy of Top Hunter JAP AES (Awesonme game!!), and, to my horror, saw an area of sticky tape residue on the case.
Well, my girlfriend had apparently been holding out me (No, not like that!! <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" /> ), because she knew exactly what to do.
Being careful not to come into contact with the insert, she dabbed the sticky plastic with a paper towel doused in lighter fluid (charcoal lighter, Scout water, etc.). And magically, the gunk rubbed off!! It was a Christmas miracle (Without the Christmas part), and I was so overjoyed I took her to the best restaurant, then brought her home for some [STORY EDITED FOR CONTENT].
Well, that's my news story, for those not in the know: lighter fluid gets that nasty sticky gunk off things, be they hard plastic, soft plastic, wood, or what have you. Just be sure you don't get it around the inserts, sticker, or other printed, ink-related things. 'Cause I know from experience it doesn't mix there. Other than that, you're fine.
Hope this helps all the obsessive Neo Geo collectors out there!!
