is cartridge conversion RAPE ?

I would like to know everyones opinion about converting MVS carts into AES carts .

I feel it shouldnt be done because you have to destroy a " ORIGINAL " AES cart to create a NON original AES cart and thereby lessening the number of original NEO carts out there .

For those of you out there who are all for conversions I do not mean to offend any of you but please explain why you would prefer a conversion and not just settle with a MVS cart played with a Phantom , especially since its cheaper .

IMHO, getting a conversion is cheaper than buy a Phantom. For me, I would have to replace my slots, that will cost $100. Plus the converter another $279. Lastly the cost of the MVS cart. That will run me more than 379. For instance, I'm going to get a Blazing Star conversion soon. The MVS would cost me $50 plus sac cart another $50 and jeff K to convert it for 85 including art works. That'll be $185, instead of buying the real AES worth over $500.

It may be a fake, but at times they are cheaper than the real thing. There was one cart conversion I regret buying, Super Dodge Ball by
!Arcade!. That game was good and all, but $349 was a bit steep........

A crime against the Neo community maybe, if you take Retrogamer's stance. When it's a conversion of a game made by now non-existant bankrupt companies like Technos and ADK, the rights are public domain, no?

I possess A Super Dodgeball conversion, and I think the value > price paid (I ripped off !Arcade! when I bought it). I would have paid $1000+ if I had the cash for it.

Many of the saced carts are very common and are not very good games anyway (Fatal Fury 3 anyone?)

The converted cart is still an original, it's just been made into another form.

Lastly, conversions work in ALL neo systems. Phantom-1 is great, I have one myself, but when you want to go and play a game at a Neo-owning friend's house, you are out of luck. Conversions will work with all systems, which is always a plus.

If it's just for your own personal use, fine. If you're gonna sell it and rip someone off, pretending its an original (cough cough Kyokugen Star), NOT COOL.

Destroy an AES cart.... Fuck that, what about the MVS cart that is destroyed!!! You all treat MVS carts like trash, they are just as SNK as an AES cart... don't destroy any carts, AES or MVS, that is my stance... you want to play MVS games, get a converter, get a super gun, get a cab... don't kill good carts just for the sake of a cheap game.

I don't like the idea of cart sac'ing just because one is unable to afford/find the real thing. I really feel sorry for all those FF3 carts that had to die in the past (and will die in future).

If you have an AES, buy a phantom if you want to play MVS games on it, and if it takes a mod of the AES to work with the converter, so mode it be. If all fails, get a MVS cab. And if that's too much of a hassle for ya, I have two new words to say which may be new to some of the greedy kind of folks:

Forget it.

You can't have anything.

I bow to all of you who agree with me , and yes MVS carts are important also. To destroy any original game to make some re-furb wanna-be in my opinion is un realistic if you cant afford the home versions in the first place buy a supergun or a Cabinet . :o

What is the point of conversions? Once you buy 2 of them, you could have bought a converter or MVS anyway. MVS is less than 100 and a Supergun is around 250-300. Just buy that and have access to cheap games forever before you go around destroying stuff.

ff3 sucks anyway so who cares if it get raped for a conversion, i thinkif you can get some games like ms1 converted for you then its great. B/c not all of us have 1500+ for the fucking game, if i did then i would own it. you still are buying the game right. well actaully you are buying 2 games, so you should choos what you want to do whit them when you have them, games are ment to be played!

Thank you. A SANE response, for once. Perhaps if I bought FF3 (which I have) and Neo Turf Masters MVS (almost there) and decided to simply smash them to bits, you would all be upset, I suppose. They are my games and if I wanna do something completely stupid, I'll destroy them. Or perhaps I could have them join forces and create...NEO TURF MASTERS, SUPER CONVERSION!!! Why, because cocksuckers who are willing to spend over $1000 US for an original home cart (now who's the idiot!) have made it unjustifiable for me to buy one.
