Please keep in mind that, at times, these will flip flop around. The top couple are dead locks (until a better game may come to bump them off)

EDIT: CRAP, I forgot about Capcom vs SNK 1 and 2. Both are great games, IMHO. I would put this in the top 5 for sure... both are great for what they're worth.

I was going to appreciate your opinion, but then you included Sam Sho 4, proving to me that your opinion is worthless, as is the opinion of all who "like" that game. It almost killed the series. Everyone was playing SS3 happily and then the arcade op changed it was SS4, and no one wanted to play it after a week. And why would they after seeing Tam Tam so powerful, and Gaira so weak (weak against Sogetsu is an understatement)

Just kidding. Still, SS4 is the lame game of the series. If you don't agree, then you're wrong.

Not in any order:

Vampire Chronicle (kinda prefer the PSX version, it had color edit and they added a cancel system to it).

Street Fighter3: 3rd Strike (parrying took true skill to master).

King of Fighters '97 (to me, it had the best story of any KoF).

Fatal Fury 1(this is where Terry became my favorite).

Sonic Council (played it once, still trying to get this game. A nice mix of rival school and 2D fighting 1 on 1).

Eternal Champion ( the hardest 2D game ever made. Took me almost 3 months to beat. Love the fatalities).

Guilty Gear X (the most beautifu 2D fighter out there).

X-MEN: CotA (I spent many-a-quarter playing this game in the arcade).

Street Fighter Alpha: WD (dramatic battle mode was the best).

Samurai Showdown 4 (It had everything that I needed in a fighting game).

These are my choices. They were chosen because of what I felt needed to be in a 2D fighting game. I am trying not to leave out anything. Though MotW shuld have been in there, please note it should be covered under the Fatal Fury title.
