I have discussed my custom built supergun in some of the forums and I got alot of questions regarding it , so I decided to post it up for everyone to see .

Story:
I won a Super Neo Candy CAB auction on Ebay , when the Cabinet got to my doorstep it was destroyed . Monitor cracked , Service panel pushed in and dented , Control Panel locks forced open Marquee display in a million pieces , : The list goes on : I went through the insurance claim process and I was only refunded a partial amount of my total purchase  But they let me keep the destroyed machine , so I decided to test it . Praying that it wouldnt explode I got a fire extinguisher ready and plugged the sucker in .To my amazement I heard sound right away , and although the monitor didnt work as I tried toying with the control panel I could hear that as I made movements with the Joystick the game was playing ! So I decided to gut it and use the parts and build a SUPERGUN .

Here is a link to the pics of my working machine http://members.aol.com/retrogamer/supergun

I will go into detail about the parts upon request . Although most of the parts were from the Super Neo Candy I did have to buy some other electric components to nget the video working and the sound to transfer to stereo . and of course the case . Enjoy

If you look at the picture labeled SUPERGUNGUTS.JPG you can see that the powersupply goes directly into the main relay wich is ventilated although its inside the box I think there is enough room inside the box that it wont present a problem .

Thanks MKL but I dont think its possible . I have added another picture of a closeup of the Relay/Power supply as you can see the casing is a solid piece of metal all around welded together at the bottom . I really wouldnt consider prying it open to put a fan inside . I guess I could put a fan over the vented area but where would the hot air escape to . I think its fruitless .

I think it's cool. Do you always play sitting on the floor though? It would be 'cleaner' if you put maybe a piece of rubber tubing over the wires going to the control panel, it would keep them from accidently getting damaged. Nice Job! :D

BTW: is that an official SNK case? If not where did you get it, I need one for my cameras.

Thanks , I do have clear tubing over the wires
going to the control panel thats why you cant see it in the pictures .

As for the case its a Technicians case I bought from Home Depot , its very easy to work with because the aluminum is very easy to cut and it only has wood and foam underneath . I stole the SNK logo from the destroyed candys monitor bezel.

Good point Lee , but thats why I have a MVS cart system . I just started to collect AES carts but I am going to keep the MVS carts as a suppliment to my AES carts so I can play the MVS titles all I want and not worry about damaging the AES collection . Since MVS carts are so cheap I reccomend it to everyone who wants to protect their investment , Unless you have a collection of MVS carts ((especially complete kits)) you might want to invest in some non complete carts to suppliment .

That looks pretty bad-ass!

I recently finished my supergun too. Although it's not SNK dedicated.

My web host is gone though. If anyone wants to see pictures, I have some low-res ones right now I can send, and I'll eventually take more hi-res.

That is one good looking Supergun. I wish I could
build something that good myself.

To transfer the RGB signal into Composite video (NTSC) I used a converter that you can get at www.jrok.com The converter costs around 90$ shipped but its essential to the project , and JROKs converter also outputs to S-Video

I created a stand that holds the control panel as well as the unit itself . I will post a picture later tonight .

Pretty cool. Looks like you should be playing Super Spy with that thing. ;) Anyway I would be concerned with the temp. Try putting a Thermostat in the briefcase just to test how hot it gets. You may have to cut the case and mount a fan in there. Sorry about your Candy... I would of been PISSED!
