I remember when it first came out. Almost no one played it, but I remember it being kinda cool. It had a nice scaling effect, plus some characters could change with BCD pushed together. I also remember the crappy FMV in the background from the movie. Blah!!!

Oh well, I have the NGCD version and kinda liked it. Graphics are not great but the game was quite fun to play.

I posted a lil' thread about DD a while ago in Game Play, but got only a few replies... DD isn't that popular, just look at the usual DD/VFG/AODK bashing around here.

Yeah, I like DD. Abobo, Cheng Fu, Marian, Amon... the game is very accessible, features some nice artwork, really good.

The intro FMV (taken from the movie Double Dragon) is stupid, but I like the big DD gold medal. The pre-fight anims/stances are a bit of a let down, and the chara anims are quite raw, but hey, it's not MotW anyway (thank god for that).

The best part of the game was the announcer. Just kidding. I actually believe that Amon was the best part. His super was really super when I first pulled it off. Only thing better at the time was when Bust Hanzo dropped bombs from pants on the opponent in SS3. Good times.

It would be cool if someone could explain the meaning of each thing that Amon says as the bombs appear in his super. I know it's some kind of Ninja thing, but that's too vague.

I've always liked the DD games, in all their incarnations. I still remember playing the first in arcades. The place I'd go to had the game's volume pumped to the max, since DD was their #1 game. You could tell someone was playing, because of the loud "heeh!" every time they used the elbow attack. You could hear it across the street!

The fighting game?

I used to have the Neo CD of the fighting game, and I played it on MVS a lot when it was in the arcades. But as for the beat 'em up DDs, I only played the first 3 (and still own 2 and 3).

Yeah, the elbow was the best method for taking down the big guys, even better than the bat, IMO.

While we're at it, does anyone know how to get the alternate character avatars in the selection menu?

I've heard some ppl talk about it, but never managed to do this trick.

I had it last year, didn't like it and sold it right away.
I don't know, but I have a feeling, something in that game is similar to World Heroes (I don't like World Heroes either, I have WH in my collection just for nostalgic reason ;) )
The gameplay and sound are sucks. The graphic is fine though.

SD Character Portraits =------------------------------------------
If you beat the game using the bosses, the small character portraits change!
They turn into Super-Deformed versions of themselves, and they look funny as
hell! This apparently dissapears after the machine is reset, but I think it
gets saved on the Memory Card.

I actualy had some real fun with that game. it looks like you guys beat me to this topic actualy. with all the talk of ROTD and everyone bashing the first DD I was going to make A topic about this game as well. if you have A neo cd or MVS DEFINITELY get it, if not, you may want to think it over.
