Hey all I have been messing around with my MVS stuff and have found something new to tinker with! These look great even with the light turned on in my cabinet. I have also been making shock box inserts as well. With all of these loose carts running around Big Bear really had a great idea there!! I am very thankful to him and the guys working with him to make Shock Box inserts and I am going to start making some of my own so the community can get in on this fun too. If you are like me and like to have things pretty and only have a bare cart of some of your MVS games this is a great way to spruce up your collection!! More pics coming soon and if I can help anybody out with this I would be more than happy to so just e-mail me :)

Yeah! GOOD IDEA GA,those arts sized as marquees are hella sweet because you can choose your favorite artwork and place it in the window of your marquee cab and it looks just as good and better in most cases than the originals! You are also NOT intruding on others with your work by ruining authentic SNK documentation through business sales, forcing it on customers.
Your printer did a swell job GA.
This PROJECT is PURE!
I will be opening a section for shock users/designers to share the methods of cleaning artwork, printing it out, dimensions they feel comfortable with. The tools we use, etc. as I
have noticed everyone that has contributed have different visions and methods.

Our server is down for a minute due to a COMCAST update but will be back up soon.when things are back to normal "Super Spy" will be making his debut.
Just like to publicly thank all of you who have contributed and supported the SHOCK BOX.
Thankyou-BB

Glad to see some more creativity focused in this direction again. We had quite a spree before where people were cranking out a dozen or so inserts a week to fit those cases, but that came to an end when certain members' bannings were up, and we returned to fighting as usual. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> I am still reading the manual for PhotoShop, but I would love to get something like that for Magical Drop 2 MVS, preferably with the Japanese text to match that cart. <img src="graemlins/drool2.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool 2]" />

LOL, that's weird GA. I have a Lexmark X83 arriving sometime around Thursday/Friday. Did you just rpint those out on normal stock paper? Also, do the SHOCK cases allow for one large insert or must you divide it into three separate sections (back, spine, front)?

I have a couple in the works (one finished MOTW insert) but I'm waiting for the SHOCK site to get the files back up so I can make sure my measurements are OK. I tend to avoid the traditional look of a scanned cover and a back with screenshots, etc. I'll let everyone else put together the standard look and see what everyone thinks of my "different" take on what an MVS case should look like. :D

Oh yeah, did you say those marquees you made look good even with a backlight? Are they just paper prints? Does the light shine through?

Back when Gabe from <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com" target="_blank">Penny Arcade</a> was still Posting here actively, he was considering doing a homebrew insert with some of his original artwork of SNK characters. I think the return of the aforementioned banned members scared him off, though. :(

I would love to see a Samurai Spirits insert by Lou_Gojira, though, especially after seeing that piece of Gen-An artwork of his. :D

You do not have to break the insert down into three pieces. The isert was broken down by some designers to make it easier for fans to print the images out @ home.
There is NO STANDARD for the dimensions right now -BUT- I have been pleased with Gargoyle7's dimensions which allows the insert to be protected by the display window.
I have a GREAT format for the insert in the works but I must gather all materials..so once I get started I can pump them out rapidly and not DRAG ON like I've done up til now..
Right now I am currently updating ALL pages for easy updating in the future(oh boy :/) Almost Done....

Yeah,GABE is a cool guy and he gets much respect from BIGBEAR.All the origninal Designers like
RYOGEO,LEE(Gargoyle7),NICK_TH_FURY in particular were instrumental..Man,I hate to single out people..Other honorbale mentions are Chimpmeister and Mouse Master who were 1st on board with SB buying basically..Gui Long coined the phrase "SHOCK BOX"..Shawn is soo accommodating it's almost scary...(that's a good thing BTW :&gt ;)
DAMN,everybody has been GREAT despite everything that has went down on the surface..
Private communications and dealings with alot of Neo Geo fans have been nothing short of cool and continue to be.
LIES will NEVER conquer the TRUTH!

I would like to thank everyone involved as well!! Nick_th_fury is always there to help when anyone needs anything, Big Bear for making Shock Box possible, briggs an ultra friendly guy, gave me my Blazing Star. JHendrix, RyoGeo, Gabe, Garg these are the guys who make the Neo scene, true fans!!! And a special thanks to Shawn because without this board I would have never had the chance to meet all these great people. If you are interested in Shock Box what so ever watch this thread because I will be making more of my own inserts and mini Marquees.

The mini Marquees were done on high grade photo paper by Jet print photo. The light shines through perfect!! I have them in my MVS right now and they look absolutly awesome, as good as the real ones in my opinion but with better art :)

Here's a preview of the "Portrait Series" of MVS inserts I'm currently working on. This is scaled down, so I lost alot of the detail. As you can see, I'm not going the usual "title-front screenshots-back" approach but instead I'm using scans of various artwork that will look much better on the shelves IMO. SNK art kicks ass, so I want to use it. I also have several "unnofficial" SNK art books with badass art that I might use on future inserts. Also, I redid all of the SNK/game logos so they are high res even in their enlarged form.

Here is the Mark of the Wolves insert. Not sure if I'm finished yet, may make a few changes here and there...

oh, and also

i took the twinkle star sprite art, the stuff thet comes with the mvs cart, and sized it down. it makes a kick ass mini marquee, and it looks fine, just as good as originals. when you laminate them they look like poo actually, but they look fine unlaminated

FeelGood, GREAT idea! That MOTW looks WONDERFUL! One bit of advice, which you may have already followed anyway, make sure you have the ppi nice and high so they print cleanly. Your resolution should be at 202.25 ppi ( as designated by nick_th_fury) because that is the best res a laser printer can reproduce.

If they are lower, you begin to see pixelation. In any case, your work may very well be that high anyway, but just thought I would mention it.

GA, you stuff looks GREAT! That Ninja Masters looks SO COOL in that Shock Box. The red case is PERFECT with that art. Just curious. Did you make spine labels too, or just covers?

Hey, BB, ain't it cool to see a revival of these efforts?!?
