Whats going on? Market dead?

Everyone is selling off their collections, the market is dead, prices are falling, NGF is nowhere to be found.

Whats going on?

I think the market reached its height a few months ago, I think people finally realized that these games are NOT worth over $500

Shit, you would think with new releases the market would be jumping. L ks like everyone is moving to CD and MVS now for some reason.

Now is the chance for the gamers to get the games they were bitching about not being able to afford when the market was at its peak.

The market is dead...

Dead?

Far from it..
KoF 2k1 just came out, and seems to be selling well..

Metal Slug 4 is coming soon..
Many more games are rumored to be on the way up..

All this from a system that is 10 years old. Not too bad.

And don't forget the Crystal System.

I just joined the NEO scene myself and I'm doing my part! My problem is money and the lack of it.

Your points were already addressed in selling forum, metal slug topic.

Again anyway:
Real collectors are NOT selling off anything.

More,facts:
Last metal slug 1 jap, sold for $2200,more than past ones which went for $1200-1600+.

The real junk, speaking of value,is the neo geo cd stuff, worth less than $1 for cd.

MVS is cheap and easy to get if you refer to loose carts or NGF junk, like bootleg carts.

So where is the point? Real rare home carts have a great value and will.

I understand your trying to make all believe what you would like to happen but it's not in keeping with reality.

Again Tonk,

I'm glad your back but please stop referring to NGF.

They are sorry businessmen and really lame collectors.

Ray and Dakis don't even have a complete neo geo home cart collection. Simple as that.

Of course they have a lot of collectables and other minor stuff but not a complete home carts collection.

Just to clear out what the words "serious+ collector" mean.

Brandi, the point is that the neo geo scene is MORE alive now than ever.

metal slug selling for $2200,3+ NEW mvs games coming out,NEW AES releases coming out.

It doesn't matter WHO sold Metal slug for that much, you know better than me that in Milano Metal slug 1 JAP sold for around the same amount.

Good deals can be found but the point here was to prove that the interest in the neo geo is still and more than before alive.

TAKE BIOHAZARD gamecube, what a game all will claim..yeah..when you have finished it,it will collect dust and you will be back at playing Metal slug, windjammer or drop 3.

In my case TSS or MIE..

Actually I do disagree with this. The Neo Scene was much more active back in '96. There were so many new Neo games out and SNK was doing pretty good during that year.

Right now it's still in a rut even with this new release. ;)

Many games coming out back then, but no one actually buying them... 1996, the year of the rarest and less produced Neo games...

I would say the situation will change, course sometimes you could find a jpn MS1 for less $1500,00, but the condition isn´t mint then.
Most people still buy a mint copie of Slug1 for much than $1800,00+. Even for an US MS1, the prices are still increase. The market value of MotW is different. One day a JPN MotW leaves the seller for $650,00+, and on another day only around $450,00. So it´s normal. Take a look in the future, the Neo becomes interesting another time, course "Metal Slug IV", "Rage of the Dragons" and other titles are coming up next to it soon.
Let´s see what happens!!!

I agree...

...Biohazard is a beautiful game but it has no replay value...

...the true power of Neogeo games is their longevity! ;)

That's what I'm driving home at tho. It's excatly almost the same now only people are buying and selling games that were released years ago VS people going out and buying a lot of new games now.

You just have to look at how many copiesof SLug 3 Shawn is sitting on to prove my point. ;)

Aes is a lot more accesible now cos middle of the road titles from 94-95 such as FHD, ADK, street Hoop, Fatal fury 3, Windjammers, spinmasters, galaxy fight, Top Hunter and SSK3 are so much more available and reasonably priced. The prices on all these have dropped. BUt it seems what is deemed collectible and rare, eg Metal slug World Heroes Perfect, will go on rising forever.

Interest in new games is overall good, but we gotta see these games first.People have been talking about Samurai shodown 5 for years, but we still havent seen it.If Metal slug 4, SNK V Capcom, Double dragon 2, and the power instinct game come out, I think interest will go up again....but at the moment the aes is basically a KOF machine....one repetitive KOF update that looks like shit....every year.

The only constant if you want new games at a better price, and if you want access to all the snk games is......mvs :(

In this I won't brook an arguement. I just honesttly feel truthfully that the Neo has better times back in around '96.

More or less I stress this because of like I said before that even if there are new Neo games out now, a lot of that is not being sold.

Hence lost money.

Some people are still under the sad illusion that SNK or Eolith is making any real money of AES carts. To be honest. They are not.

Shawn losing money big time on the Slug 3's he's been sitting on. Have none of you seen how much they have ben going for on ebay?

A lot cheaper than what he paid forthem at cost I assure you. Nobody likes losing money but, Shawn seems to not be overly concerned about this or at least he's giving the impression he doesn't care.

Like it or not guys, The AES is a system near death and on life support. New games will end eventually because it will no longer be cost effective to make games for the Neo.

Each new AES release from this point on is a blessing. It really is. To think otherwise would be totally naive...

the neo- scence will never die IMO, younger kids are finding out about the system by emaulator etc. and then they want to go out and buy a system, while the older gamers lose interest and seel to the up coming generation of neo gamers. its a shame the SNK wen tout of business so that dosnt help the scen e at all

You're right, my friend... but keep in mind that it was a re-release, a lot of Neo-people already had it...
Imo, Slug 3 is not so indicative of the actual new Neo games' sales...

Actually i think that older gamers are the primary force of this scene...
Nostalgia is a key factor here...
