I just got MS2 and Shock Troopers in the mail today, and with that I now own every Metal Slug game. MS1 and MS2 english MVS carts for use with my phantom1, and MSX MS3 and MS4 english AES.
Do a lot of people own them all? I know that it's one of the most popular series, but I get the impression that few people actually own all of them. Especially because of the minor differences between part 2 and X. Actually, I don't enjoy MSX more than MS2. The slowdown on MS2 sucks, but it's just kind of like the entire game runs a bit slower. It seems to always be in a minor state of slwodown which never escalates too much. It didn't bother me all that much. I like the language select option, also. I wish all the MS games had that.

Well uh I don't see why the sarcastic "congrats" post. It's not easy to get all of these games for play on an AES system for someone like me who really cannot fit a cab in his house. I thought it was really awsome to own them all.

I agree, I have a Metal Slug 1 conversion, Metal Slug 2 MVS on the way in the mail, Metal Slug X MVS, Metal Slug 3 and 4 are original US AES games. Once I get the shock boxes I'll print inserts for MS 2 and X and they will look damn nice all lined up on the shelf. :)

as awesome as that would be, there is no word of it at all, and it was only just a fancy thought that became a rumor. No evidence to support it.

Man, why do the Slug games have to be the most expensive Neo games? I love them so much, all I have is a saturn port of MS1, still a blast to play though. The only Slug I didn't like is MS4, because the game was weak.

If by "freaked" you were asking me, then no, none of my stuff is anything other than original. ;)

MS1 on the saturn is awesome.

I have never tried the PS1 MSX, I hear it is a bad port though, I still want to try it, I need to get the import version so it's not edited, the only problem is that modding a PS2 is a bitch. I agree MS1 on the Saturn is badass, any nut who says that ports are lame and goes and buys the $2,000 MS1 when he could be buying the same game for 60 is a nutcase IMO.

umm, well, I don't know about that. No one has bought the homecart just because they want to play it in a long time. It's a collectible, and not to be confused as anything else. Now, some would be able to say that the MVS is superior, and maybe it is, but combat school and the ram card is my reason for liking the Saturn version more.

Anyhow, MS1 on the PSX is the bad port. MSX is okay.

Well I understand the collectible issue, I would buy KOF 2k on the AES over KOF on the DC because it's only about $120 difference in value, but when your talking about a $2,000 difference in value then it's a little different, if you can afford that though more power to ya. ;)

I guess my opinion could change though, it seems as if every time I buy a game of greater value I seem to not care as much about buyin another game that is even more. For example, before I got into the Neo I bought Radiant Silvergun for $150.00, I thought that I was payin tons of money, now I look back and it doesn't seem like I spent that much at all, it's all a matter of how you value your money. Sorry for spamming your thread dmhawkmoon, I just had to say that. ;)

That's where it all starts. When you get a well paying job, you may find yourself with a shelf full of homecarts and not a shred of guilt. I say that because I was once in your shoes.

No problem, I'm just glad that after that first response people actually started talking about things that didn't involve ridiculing me. :)
I know what you mean about RS. I thought I was paying loads when I got mine (well, I was, but you know), but now I wouldn't hesitate as much to pay that much after spending $300 on Neo-Geo games. At least I now have a job all year round. Making an average of $150 a week working part time at a supermarket. It's not bad work at all cause I work the evening shift and I'm the only one in my department at that time. So if I am feeling like shit I can just take a few extra breaks and no one will notice. :D I don't pay any taxes or bills, so all that money either goes to the bank or to pay for games. Yeah, you might say "oh you're a spoiled brat, you don't pay the bills, your MOMMY AND DADDY are paying!" Well, it's by choice that I don't have my own car, and by choice that I still live at home. I want to save up tens of thousands of dollars before I invest in anything major like a car or apartment of my own. I'm only 21 and my girlfriend is only a senior in high school, so I'm not a loser yet... That is, it's not uncool to be living with my parents at this stage of the game. :)

I dunno, Charlie. When I originally bought my first US Metal Slug, it was because I wanted to play the game at home on a home system setup. The Phantom-1 had not been unveiled yet and the only existing convertors were the side input ones that I did not trust. After numerous experiences with third-party accessories for other systems I used to have, it was evident that they frequently malfuctioned or caused defects to the original hardware. I was determined to not have any converted bootlegs contaminate my system. The homecart seemed like the best choice considering my impatience with the CD system and the lack of a dedicated MVS setup that had cosmetic and functional appeal equal to the home cart system.

Sh*t, if the Metal Slug home cart was only a $200 game, I'd still have it and play it. However, seeing that some people are willing to pay $2800 for it, it's an overpriced luxury item that had to be sacrificed so that my rent could be paid on time :(
