I'll be getting a copy shortly (being shipped Monday) ans wanted to know if there is flicker (which I hate) and even slowdown...

seriously no offense, but why ask after you already bought the cart? Kinda odd to me...
but if it really matters, no, I personally haven't really noticed any slowdown, but once you play it you may wish there was. Its a beat the machine / throw a cat difficulty game.

I also haven't beat it yet, so there may be some slowdown or flickering, later in the game, although I dont really know what you mean by flickering. Sounds more like a individual cart issue rather than the general game. Hope this info holds you over for the next two or so days. eek_2
PS: If you can relate with the 'throw a cat' feeling once you play it, you may want to try blazing star. Oh, and that 'beat the machine' comment is purly in a platonic way. shame you dirty minds...

There is a minute amount of flicker, maybe...
And there is slowdown.
But Irem, ahem Aicom did such a good job with the patterns and difficulty of everything, you won't care.

I did finish the game on easiest mode once. Hardest shooter ever played, even more than Viewpoint.

But if you love shooters, its a must get.

I found Pulstar to be far easier than many shooters. I can usually clear the first 4 stages without taking a hit. It's not a cake-walk like the first R-Type, but once you've played it a few times it's not hugely challenging.

As an aside, Medialand in Akihabara had a 'family tree' of R-Type for the launch of Final, and LEO was marked as a Side Story, and Pulstar was part of the main tree. Weird.

eek!

Irem counted Pulstar officially into the R-Type series? That I cannot believe - are you sure?

No flicker in the whole game.
There is a bit of slowdown, but only in the busiest scenes-and then you'll be thankful for it,believe me. wink

Congrats for getting a copy-this is one game worth getting! :)

Medialand is a store, they make their own displays for big launches like this. Medialand isn't Irem. =)
