I just completed world heroes 1 for the 1st time today. And I just enjoyed the feel, atmosphere and "less is more" ethos of this fighter. It really is a great Street fighter 2 clone.

So what I want to know is....if I enjoy these type of early 90's fighters such as art of fighting 1/2, Fighters history dynamite and fatal fury 1/2 special. WHat other fighters are there for on platforms other than the neo geo eg jamma pcbs or the snes that are simaler to these??

I heard someone mention time killers pcb. Does anyone have pics. Also were there any good old skool fighters pre street fighter 2 in 1991?

Please mention as many titles and pics as possible, as I am getting a supergun soon and hope to buy some.

Yes I remember playing breakers when it was quite new in casino back in 1997. I liked the feel and in fight music, but I didnt think the "glossy" graphics fitted in with the characters. And the backgrounds were quite shabby.

Ninjamasters? Yep I had a cdr for the old CDZ and this game was suprisingly old style considering its a 1996 effort. I just never got into it. But I would love to play it again.

Thanks for the link.

BTW I have always hated world heroes perfect even though its the last fix of world heroes I have yet to play. I dontknow why the music and characters and look are great. I just miss death match mode.

I really like this one for whatever reason. It's old, pretty stupid, and has poor character design, but I still love it. Very good, old school feel.

Try Art of Fighting 3, it's oldskool gameplay with updated graphics! lol

Seriously, AOF3 has a oldschool feeling I love. I play with Robert but I can't get past Ryo (8th stage)... Shame on me!

yes karnovs revenge is a great title.Perhaps the ultimate old skool title.
There are so many characters and each stage has great music (rays stage is my favourite)and a feel of its own. Strangely its very hard to get to the boss with one credit. But the actual boss Karnov is very weak.

The first beat em up I got into was way of the exploding fist on the c64.In our neighbourhood, the local games store owner had 3 machines lined up side by side (C64,Schneider/Amstrad and spectrum) and he used to let us play for free.

WOTEF blew our minds.I also enjoyed the cartoon like graphics of yie ar kung fu and the follow up to fist, way of the tiger.

But its odd after those games it seems one on one fighters went quite on formats like the master system. In fact the next one to catch my eye was street fighter 2 and that opened the floodgates.

Savage Reign would be a great choice for you, then. You might also want to try World Heroes Perfect, which isn't old-school, but it's the best World Heroes has ever been.

I have to admit, rugal2000 is about as old school as they come. I mean, how can you have almost 40 home carts with only one or 2 of them being snap lock cases? buttrock
