US or JAPANESE AES

If I were to buy a japanese (unmodded) AES system is it really necessary to get it modded so I can play games in US native tounge. I mean are Neo Geo games very japanese text heavy? I'm looking to get games such as Metal Slug 3/4, Sengoku2/3, and possibly last blade 1/2. Are these games heavy on the japanese text?!? Or will I be fine?

The menus are in english regardless of region setting, the only japanese text on a jpn system would be the winquotes, story segments, etc...

Most games have an option to change the language to english anyway. You'll be fine with an unmodded system.

I wouldn't bother getting a debug bios for MS3/4 or last blade 1/2. For MS3/4, there really isn't much japanese text in the game at all (unless you just HAVE to see the prisoners' names in English at the end of the round). With regard to Last Blade 1 and 2, these both have english settings in the options menu, and both allow blood and english text - so no problem at all there. I'm not a huge Sengoku fan, so you'll have to ask someone else about that one.
