Back in the early 80's I developed what I called "Dig Dug" elbow from too much playtime with that game. It was pretty much the same condition as tennis elbow in medical terms. Other favs during that time were Tempest and Battlezone. Ahhhhh, memories.

I used to have a lot of fun with a game called Vigilante. I spent so much money on that game that eventually I could finish it on one coin no problem.

Street Fighter 2. No other game even came close to touching it in its height of popularity. The only game that actually caused a buz in the schoolyard here in Southern Cali. Kids were talking about chars, moves, strategies, etc. Talk about craziness...

Another favorite was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. There was a four page layout in EGM or some other MAG when the arcade was first released. I actually tore the pages out and carried them around with me so I could read/look at them when I got bored.

Good times...

If i have to pick only one: hard drivin'
I first saw it in a mag and looked at the pics all the time. When i started to go to arcades (like later, parents were totally against me going there, so i had to wait 'till i was like 12-13 i think) there was a race drivin' cab there... It was so cool! The car crash replays with the "dramatic" music... I wish i could play it again one day!

I know it's not a 2d game... I like 3d sometimes, especially for racing games.

My favorite game back in the day was a full-sized, dedicated sit down Galaxy Force 2. I loved that game! So detailed and the unit would turn 360 degrees to simulate what was going on in the game.

Commando. Aaahh. <img src="graemlins/drool2.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool 2]" /> I remember playing
it til i ran out of money, and then i just stood
back and watched the other kids play it.

Then i went home and nagged my parents until they
bought me a C64. Took about six months.
Water and stone.... :D

Final fight was one of my favorties, also sunset riders was class.
I have tried to buy some games that I remembered as classics, I bought moonwalker and turtles but god when I played them again they played like a load of shit (I still want Turtles in time as that one was mint).
Some classic jamma boards (original) that I have bought are:
Newzealand story (absolute classic Taito)
Final Fight (one of my favorites)
SF2 champ
SSF2 CPS2
Sunset riders
I am after the simpsons next, I missed one a while back with a buy it now of £50,I was a few minutes too late! If anyone in the UK has one for sale please email or PM me.

The first cabs I ever saw, were bandido and battlezone in a small slot machine joint. Aged about 4/5 yrs, I had to stand up on a stool to see in the battlezone periscope. That cracking glass when you get hit - terrifying.

Power Drift.

This racing game is one I played to death in the arcade- the tilting seat is a great touch that makes you not only play the game but also feel it.

I got good enough at it to get the secret stages on all 5 courses (for that, you need to get a gold trophy on EACH track, kind of like the Ryo Sakazaki match requirement of "No Rounds Lost" in FFS).

The Commodore 64 conversion was a nice attempt- I never would have thought an 8 bit computer could do this good of a port.

When the Saturn version came out, I was ecstatic- but also a bit let down to see that it wasn't perfect due to a reduced frame rate.

Thank goodness for Yu Suzuki GameWorks and its 100% version.
