another slug 2 slodown topic...

as many of you I like the slug series.

and as you know slug 2 have horrible slowdown !

OK - SNK made slug X to fix the problem, but why did they released slug 2 anyway ???

why did'nt they wait ?

do you think that without slug X and with a slug 2 fixed, SNK could have time to give us a slug 4 before his death (I mean the SNK before megaentreprise) ???

MS2 has slowdowns, sure, but they're not so terrible... it plays o.k. anyway
I prefer 2 over X...

Hey Brandi, how come you like MS 2 more than X. Just curious. Is it because it's original part 2 or because of some of the aesthetics. I sort of like the Egypt stage in 2 better since it's daytime wherease in X it's night but overally I like Metal Slug X way better.

Well... it's about the colors used for the graphics... i found 2 prettier than X, with better and more appropiate colors...

Well, in the software industry, you will sometimes have to make compromises in order to make net sales goals for a quarter. It is quite possible that SNK could not wait for the game to be finished, for fear of losing way to much money in that quarter, and had to release the product when they did (Sometimes this could effect profits for a whole year). This would keep them from reporting a great loss, and pissing of share holders. A lot of times, we as Neo Geo fans forget that they were also a company that had to deal with profits and schedules. Oh well, I don't think Slug 2 is that bad, it was my first Slug game and even with the slow down I thought it was great.

slug 2 on neogeo cd is really bad, but still am i drawn to it.....heh

does ngcd slug2 have more slowdown ?

I've got Slug 2 on cart and on CD, and in one player mode the slowdown are either is barely noticeable.

However in two player on the CD version the slowdown is terrible, I don't know about the cart version as I've not had the opportunity to play it 2 player.

I'd also like to point out that X also suffers from slowdown in places - so they didn't fix the problem entirely.

X has some fantastic animation, perhaps better even than 3, but I definitly prefer the colour scheme and backgrounds used in 2.

I can see where Brandi is coming from. After prolonged play of both it really is a close call to say which is better - 2 or X?

They're both classic games in their own right and it's definitley worth owning both of them.
