I think that would be the point where you need to sit back and re-evaluate your life. I wouldn't call naming your kids after video game characters being a 'fanboy'. I would call it losing touch with reality.

OH GIVE ME A BREAK GUYS. I MEAN REALLY! If someone wants to name their kid after a movie character, an Anime character, or even a game character what's the harm in it? And why does that make a person out of touch with reality? It's no different than how most ppl you run into are named after (a good portion of the time) ppl from the Bible, but may very well not even be Christ believers etc. I mean all the Jesus's I've ever known are criminals.

Thus it's like with anything else. You grab into a bag and pick a name. I wouldn't have any problem naming a son Ralf or a daughter Emeraldas... hell until recently I always joked with my fiancee' that I'm going to name the first born son "HARLOCK" after Captain Harlock. I've since decided not to, but not because it seems stupid but rather it doesn't fit well with my last name. It's being creative to a point and finding a name that fits well with your own last name. Just another "choice" is all. It's not the bane of a person's downfall or anything. Jeez ppl. With the amount of women naming their daughters and spelling the name "Britney" after Ms. Spears I'd hardly think someone naming their daughter Leona was a fruitcake.

I guess it would be odd to have a son named "Chirico" after the dude from VOTOMS but if it's a name that's not too outlandish, what's the harm in it? Or should we have another ten generations of lame O' names and Biblical names where the ppl never really live up to the names given half the time?

But that's just me.

And exactly how does one live up to a name given to them from an anime?

Call me old fashioned, but I'm not about to name my offspring after my hobbies. That's a little too over the top for me. Sorry.

I am not naming any of my kids after a character because the mother of the child wouldn't be happy and also you're fucking wit ya' kids future lives. How would you like to be named "Kyo" or "Kaede"? I jus' think doing that is totally dumb. I think you should name your child that you and the mother of the child will like.

Well that's when you have a different name for one child that's pleasing to both the husband and the wife. Like for example. My Fiancee' wants some regular name (Joe, John, etcetera) I want a powerfull sounding name that goes back to the Apache Warrior days.

Thus we might have a son one day named John KEOMA Minter. The kid would realize early on that he answers to both names. Then when they're old enough it's up to the child to decide which name they like better (or if they hate their name totally and change it completely) and then the parents have to honor that final desicion on the child's part. I know lots of ppl who have daughters with names like Erica Marie Sanchez... The mother likes "Erica" the Dad liked the name "Marie" thus she answers to both. It's not that big a deal meeting half way. It's the only way both sides of the fence are happy and a child is going to go through some hell with names just like the rest of us did growing up to boot. Personally this is the way my Fiancee' and I will go since I know we won't be able to decide on a single name. I like names that evoke POWER and RAW Warrior Grit (KEOMA, ULZANA, GRACKUS, etc.)

I'm american. Some people may just think of it as being an anime freak or something. you know the type of people who speak the only word of japanese they know in every sentance? and call everything chan? I'm not very fond of them. But changing a name into a japanese one may be a bit odd. Even though it's a nice name for a girl

Well I just named my newest son (3 months old) after my father. The name David might not be cool, but it has meaning...at least to me.

But who knows what his nick that sticks will be over time...right now I call him Oobie.

I'm gonna' name my kid K', lol. Ok, not really, but naming a kid after a game or anime character isn't harmful in the slightest. It's better than forcing a child to go to YOUR church and schools of YOUR choice.... American deprogramming at it's finest. Anyways, if I do name my kid after someone, It will be Kurt, named after the great man featured in my avatar.

Yeppers...one reason I want the Neo now is for him, so he has something I never did growing up. You know...that's what I tell his mother :D
