"1996 SNK Kizuna Encounter Special Edition Confirmed Proto! Screenshots Coming Soon! "

Okay, I saw this while browsing the master list, and this seems important enough to warrant a topic.
Any information? I think its to bad it never saw the light, im sure it would have been kick ass.

Not sure, is it?
Was this posted before? My bad if it was.

Yeah, now that I look there is no possible way it could be a different game.
Cause if it has 96 behind it, it had to have hit days after the original KE was introduced.

Gentlemen,

It's merely a special release of Kizuna Encounter that allowed for 4 player simultaneous play via the now defunct and long abandoned link cable.
(utilized in Riding Hero, League Bowling, and Thrash Rally)

World Heroes was also once allegedly reported to have had a similar release along these lines. Even Neo Bomberman as well which in fact clearly has the 3P & 4P function programmed in "some" form or another as the game displays these additional players on various screens.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, and different things press different peoples buttons. But for me, personally, this game nor any similar type games (proto or not) have never really interested me. For they would hold the same game code product numbers.

I actually have the title screen shot for Kizuna Encounter Special Version, but I don't know how to post pics here. If someone can tell me how it is done, I would be glad to do so.

Yup, that's 4 players on a SINGLE slot, no link cable needed.

Oddly enough the 4-player version was released first, followed a week later by the 2-player MVS one we see more or less exclusively.

I don't know why it is listed as a prototype when it was a legitimate release.
