Hey all,

I'm looking to get a supergun and a MVS board and I'm having a tough time deciding which supergun to get. Here are the two I'm looking at buying:

<a href="http://www.gwtrading.com/hga.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.gwtrading.com/hga.shtml</a>

<a href="http://www.massystems.com/SuperNova.html" target="_blank">http://www.massystems.com/SuperNova.html</a>

Which one is better in your humble opinions?

Thanks

Alan you seem smart dont get any of them they are crap get one from england or get a mate on neo-geo.com to make one or damn well by a aes with a phantom alot better in the end of it because super guns are dodgey damn well ugly and dont look nice with your consoles though a aes would look lovley too your collection of games then having this ugly piece of junk clogging your room

You are the piece of junk here, mate angry . A supergun can look much better than any AES if well done, not to mention the video quality you get out of it owns the AES any day of the week for free. And with the unibios you get the best options possible.
I wouldn't recommend getting one made in Europe as they usually output RGB only, unless by request it features a RGB->NTSC coder for using it in a regular USA TV.
Finally, DON'T GET THE HGA, it really is a piece of shit, the supernova is much better.

I like my superNova just fine. But I really have nothing to compare it to...yet wink

So, I making my own Supergun for about $115. I can't wait for the parts to all get here :)

P.S. I still prefer my AES wink

I can't believe English is your native language...

Regarding your comments: as Amano Jacu has wisely pointed out for your enlightenment, a Supergun with RGB output is usually superior to most AES systems in terms of video quality. As for the home systems having more or better "options", kindly go do your homework, my friend.

I agree with a custom made supergun being the best choice. But if you are wanting to just buy one then perhaps you should check out <a href="http://www.uberia.co.uk/" target="_blank">Uberia Systems</a> superguns as well.

sorry for my bad english, just im using a keyboard im not used too
Well then i must ask that you find out where the period key is on this unfamiliar keyboard. Your posts are hard to read when you dont use any breaks at all.

lol...I was thinking the same thing. I had to read both his posts 3 or 4 times to figure what he was saying.

I also suggest staying far, far away from the HGA unit. General responses from people owning it is that its video quality sucks as does its build construction.

As far as SG's not being very attractive, thats hardly truthful.

Click teh pics for a gallery of them.

OR

If you want to convert a MVS board to home use:

supergoose79's most recent MV-1FV console

Lots of different ways that you can approach SG's, depending on if you want to buy something premade, or build it yourself.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, I'm still undecided on what to get. I hate having all this graduation money burning a hole in my pocket!!! Anyways, I plan to buy something "neo" in the next couple of days or I'll go insane! I just keep jumping back and forth between AES or MVS, ARGGGGH!!

I'm a big, big fan of the Sigma AV 6000 and 7000. Great picture, sound, and killer, killer sticks! Not too easy to come by, but worth every penny! Plus you can use AES sticks on the AV 6000! :D

Sorry, somebody as stupid as you that can't even find the key "." in a keyboard wouldn't be able to "van put a chip in too play mvs". Putting the unibios in a MVS board is much easier (well, you can't find your own dick, so don't try that anyway) and it gives you both the MVS and AES options at the same time plus many more.

Do NOT buy ANYTHING frmo GW Trading. Faasl is a cunt and his service is less than shit.

Of the 3 people I've read here who have had an HGA from Faasl, they ALL thought the video quality was poor.

Oh, and why buy a Super Nova? How about, 'cause it's easy to come by. THe only problem people seem to have with it is video quality. Personally, I have a Super Nova and the video quality looks just fine to me. You can always buy the JROK and convert it yourself anyway to do a "superior" picture.

Why not buy one form someone in what sounds to be the land of Superior Superguns, England? 'Cause the one's I've seen only do RGB output which, unfortunately, can't really be used on a US TV.

The only other reason I'd get a Nova is because of the KICK ASS sticks that come with it. If you buy one of the "Superior British Super Guns", you'd have to buy your own Neo sticks, which is the same as what you would need to do with a consolized MVS. Then, if you decide to play something other than Neo on your 'Gun, how do you get sticks for it? Hhmmmmmm.....

So I'd say if all you want is Neo, go with a consolized MVS. If you want to play any JAMMA board, go for a Super Nova since you get the sticks... unless you are comfortable building your own. Then go for an S-Video/NTSC capable 'Gun from wherever in the world you wish to buy it and build your own sticks.

[edit] You can also read about the Super Nova in <a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=009696" target="_blank">this</a> thread. [/edit]

You don't need to buy Neo sticks, you can mod almost any existing controller to work with your supergun, as long as you provide it with controller ports (you usually use DB15 connectors with a Neo-compatible pin-out). At the same time you can use whatever your stick is in any other board with your supergun, although you may lack some buttons (say playing a 6 buttons game with a 4 buttons Neo stick kinda sucks).

Ah, true. I totally forgot all about modding controllers! Of course, if you want the "real" arcade feel, it's gotta be an arcade stick! wink

Oh, and whatever Super Gun you buy, be it one of Superior British Construction or not, make sure you tell the person to have the JAMMA harness wired for the extra Neo button. Wouldn't it suck to play with just JAMMA and not have the 'D' button? :)

[edit] As a small disclaimer, I don't have a problem with the British. I'm just busting neo*geo for his constant barrage of "buy a superior British 'gun" commentst. You have the comments in here and in the thread I posted a little further up in this thread about the Super Nova [/edit]

Thanks for all the help guys, but I finally decided to go with a AES, mostly due to having to transport it around in college.

Thanks again for all your wisdom,

Alan :D
